Chapter 85
But he could never confirm this kind of information with his father. After the unfortunate pa.s.sing of his father, Lucifer tried to ask some of the elders in the council, but no one dared to say anything to him, even after he threatened to kill their entire clans.
In the end, he was stuck with only the basics, such as how he used to have a twin brother who was killed not long after they were born.
Apparently, on that day, an aloof grey-haired warlock raised an army of dragons and attacked Alercane, kidnapped the Daemon Queen Cahryss, and seriously wounded Daemon King Ralmanoz before disappearing from the face of The Nightmare Rift.
Until his deathbed, Lucifer's father had been searching for his queen, but no one had ever seen her since a dragon, which was ridden by the grey-haired warlock, s.n.a.t.c.hed her away from the sacrificial ceremony.
It was said that the queen, despite her tremendous soul power and skills, did not resist at all… perhaps because she had just witnessed the death of one of her newborn sons.
As Lucifer looked at the man before him, he thought of his mother; the woman whom he had never gotten a chance to know. The only memory Lucifer had of his mother was taken from the portraits of hers that were placed all over the palace.
Warlock glared at Lucifer, as if warning him against speaking of the name again.
Lucifer stared at Warlock intensely as he asked through gritted teeth, "You are Thadeus Luminos, right? What did you do with my mother? Where is she now? And is he--"
Lucifer pointed a finger at Juin, but before he could say anything else, he felt an extremely strong killing intent being directed at him, and he immediately put on a defensive pose.
An aura that was even stronger than Lucifer's emanated from Warlock's body like a sharp semi-translucent bear trap, covering the entire room with it in the speed of light before wrapping itself around Lucifer, almost
"Urgh…" Lucifer groaned from the pain of being attacked by the aura. He wanted to throw out his own aura or even some spells to suppress it, but if he were to do it now, he would definitely lose his soul completely for sure.
Cursing at himself for his reckless behavior earlier, Lucifer could only try not to lose his face by maintaining an upright pose despite the pain.
"Hey…" A small voice suddenly spoke out.
Lucifer glanced at Juin out of the corner of his eyes, and he was surprised to see Juin unaffected by it. Juin was merely standing there, looking confused. Lucifer knew then that Warlock had the ability to target his aura at a specific person instead of an area… and this was something that Lucifer had yet to master.
As a demon who liked to intimidate everyone, Lucifer never bothered to learn such a skill. What was the point of intimidating only one person?
"What is happening?" Juin asked worriedly when he saw how Lucifer's body flickered slightly, like he was about to disappear soon. He then turned to look at Warlock, and when he saw Warlock's green eye glowing slightly, he knew that his teacher had something to do with it.
"What are you doing to him? Leave him alone, Mr. Warlock! He didn't mean to offend you!" Juin begged as he looked at the two of them alternatively. "He's going to die if you keep going on!"
Warlock ignored him. With his eyes placed firmly on Lucifer, he snapped, "Go out for a while, Juin. I need to talk to Lucifer for a while."
"But--" Juin wanted to protest, but feeling that Lucifer might actually die if he delayed any longer, he quickly went out of the room and closed the door behind him, but not before he gave Lucifer a worried glance.
The moment he left, Warlock removed his suppressive aura from Lucifer. "What have you been learning? You didn't even know how to disperse someone's aura. How are you going to teach Juin anything?"
"I know!" Lucifer said with difficulty as he tried to catch his breath. "I don't… have the energy…"
"Excuses," Warlock mocked in disdain. "Watch what you say around him from now on."
"Where's. My. Mother," Lucifer spat out the words one by one as he glared at Warlock. When he glanced down at his trembling hands, he noticed that his hands were fading in and out at a very fast rate.
"I don't know what you are talking about. I'm not who you think I am," Warlock said as he waved a hand nonchalantly.
"Bull. Sh*t."
Upon hearing the curse, Warlock gave him a quick glare. "You don't take lessons well, do you?"
"My fiancee says that I'm incorrigible…" Lucifer retorted.
"Fiancee…" Warlock scorned. "I've forgotten that time moves differently across the dimensions. How old are you now?"
"160."
"It's been 160 years since then?" Warlock mumbled to himself. He then looked at Lucifer. "Where's your father?"
"Dead," Lucifer spat out angrily. "Because of what you did to him 160 years ago! He had never fully recovered from the injuries, and in the last war, his enemy took the opportunity to kill him!"
"Ah," Warlock said without any emotion. "I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm sure he deserved it."
If this were at Alercane, Lucifer would have killed Warlock… though he seriously doubted that he could do it. Even at Alercane, he still had much to learn before he could deal with someone like Warlock.
If Warlock was who he thought he was, and Lucifer was sure by now that he was indeed Thadeus, then Lucifer had to proceed with caution. This was someone who could hurt his father at the peak of his strength.
According to Lucifer's father, in that one time that he mentioned him, strength and power were wasted on Thadeus Luminos for he was an "impenitent fool" who preferred to drink and merry his days away.
