Chapter 93
Warlock then opened the locket and pushed it toward Lucifer so that he could see it. "This is your mother's favorite necklace… She gave it to me, with the hope of giving it to Hades one day. But I don't think she would mind if I show it to you."
He placed a hand on the locket, and after a soft, gentle white glow appeared on the locket, Warlock removed his hand.
Two hologram-like images appeared above the opened locket. One was a black-haired woman who was holding two babies, and one was of a dark, handsome young man with horns on the side of his head. Both of them were smiling happily as they held the babies.
"Father…" Lucifer mumbled as he looked at the face of the man who meant so much to him. He then looked at the image of the woman. Of course he could recognize her. He used to sit in front of her portraits, wondering what it was like to be hugged by her. "She's… my mother…"
"She loves you, Lucifer…" Warlock said as he watched the softened expression on Lucifer's face. "When she sent me and your brother's soul over, her last words to me were 'if you ever see Lucifer, tell him that I'm extremely sorry that I can't be with him and that my love for him is not less than my love for Hades'."
"Why?" Lucifer asked with a trembling voice. "Why? If she had already sent you guys away, why can't she return to us?"
To his question, Warlock merely said, "Lucifer, just know that your mother wants to be with you. That's why she has never left Alercane soil. To her, as long as you guys are on the same soil, you are still connected in a way. Even if she can't see you from near, just by being near you, she's happy."
"No, answer my question," Lucifer pressed. "Why didn't she come and see me and my father? If she really loved me, then why didn't she
Warlock took a deep breath, and after a moment of thought, he said with a complex expression, "Your mother's life is connected to Juin's."
"What?"
"Sacrifices have to be made when one uses a forbidden spell. In order to kill your brother's presence in Alercane, she created a fake death situation for him, taking his soul out and putting his physical body in a soulless state," Warlock said. "But a soulless body will rot and die for real… unless there's someone who is keeping the body alive by using his or her own life, and this is not an equal exchange."
Besides, Hades' physical body was that of a baby who had not undergone any growth process. Thus, the person who was to keep the body alive would need to put in more life force into Hades' physical body. And even for Cahryss, who was extremely powerful due to her phoenix bloodline, this was almost a death sentence.
Warlock clenched his fists as he thought about the likelihood of him ever seeing the woman he loved again, and his throat clamped up again. But he quickly cleared it and looked at Lucifer in the eye as he said, "And if you kill Hades' soul, even across the multiple dimensions, she would suffer from a backlash and be dead as well…"
…
Juin was pacing about outside the room with the dagger held close to his chest, wondering why they were taking so long to talk and what they were talking about. When he placed his ear against the door, he could not a peep coming out of the room.
"Is Lucifer alright?" Juin mumbled to himself as he continued to pace around worriedly.
Click!
Suddenly, Juin heard a click coming from the room and went to turn the k.n.o.b. "It's unlocked!" he thought to himself before slowly turning the k.n.o.b. When he pushed the door open slightly, he saw Warlock signaling him to go in.
"Erm…" Juin looked at Lucifer, who was still pretty transparent, and asked, "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah…" Warlock said. "Take a seat. We need to continue our conversation."
Juin nodded and closed the door behind him before walking to his seat. When he sat down, he glanced up at Lucifer, who had a complicated expression on his face.
"What are you staring at?!" Lucifer snapped at Juin, causing his vessel to jump up slightly and quickly look away.
"Nothing!" Juin said and looked at Warlock. "Mr. Warlock, what else should we talk about?"
"Where were we before we were interrupted by this brat?" Warlock frowned as he tried to think about the last part of their conversation.
Juin put the dagger down on the table and said, "This? Oh, and you were talking about my path."
"Oh yeah… You were talking about Tim Tack. Continue with that story..." Warlock said as he glanced at Juin up and down.
"Tim Tack? You mean Jim Mack?" Juin raised an eyebrow. He glanced at Lucifer, who was now staring at the wall like a petulant kid, for whatever reason, and sighed. "Alright then…"
For the next 10 minutes, Juin explained everything that had happened to him when he went to visit the Smithsons.
At the end of it, Warlock mumbled while scratching his chin, "Interesting… The kid saw you with two blue eyes… and you were screaming for Ashton."
Juin nodded. "And I finally remembered everything that happened that day. I think I ripped open a portal and sent Ashton to elsewhere. So, he should still be alive."
Warlock frowned slightly. "Did you notice any changes in you? Physically and mentally…"
Juin thought for a while before nodding. "Yeah… I think… I might have grown slightly. My clothes are getting tighter…"
Warlock nodded. "I noticed that."
"And when I trained with His Majesty, I feel that I can control my power better…"
Warlock leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and tapped on the table as he thought about the things that he had just heard from Juin.
