The Demon King's Cowardly Vessel

Chapter 94

His eyes landed on the locket on the table, and he noticed that Lucifer was staring at the locket intensely, but since no one said anything, Juin felt that he should not mention it for now. Yet a part of him felt somewhat attracted to the locket, and he had this urge to just take it… which he would have if it not for the presence of the two powerful beings in the room.

With a sigh, Juin tore his eyes away from the locket and glanced up at Lucifer, who was floating slightly in midair with his arms and legs folded.

For some reason, Lucifer seemed pale, if that was even possible, given the fact that he was a soul… But that was what Juin felt when he saw his "boss".

"Just thinking. Give me a moment," Warlock answered Juin. He stood up and went to stand by the window as he tried to make sense of everything.

"Hades has one blue eye and one red eye, yet when here, his eyes appeared in one color at a time… though it has taken three different colors. Black is the color of Juin's physical body, so there's nothing to be worried about that. But the red and blue? From what Juin said, he can remember the things that happened when his eyes turned blue, but none when his eyes turned red. And most of the time, he didn't know that his eyes had actually turned red…" Warlock thought to himself.

Lucifer told Juin about his eyes before, and Juin also relayed this information to Warlock earlier.

Warlock then briefly glanced at Lucifer, who was still distracted by their conversation earlier, and thought, "Could it be because he has merged with Lucifer now? But that happened before Lucifer, so it can't be because of him."

Shaking his head, Warlock looked out the window again, his mind running a thousand miles per hour as he thought, "Juin said that something stopped his red-eyed self from attacking Ashton, and that's probably his blue-eyed self. Is Hades' soul undergoing some kind of war with itself? And that it somehow split into two? Thus giving it two separate ident.i.ties?"

He frowned and dismissed the idea. "No, the blue-eyed Juin must be him. It's the part of the

Warlock thought about Ashton and what he knew of him. From what he heard of the boy, it appeared that Ashton had been trying to keep Juin a coward and weakling…

"But why? To ensure that the physical body will never be strong enough for the shackled soul to attempt an escape?" Warlock thought. "That makes sense since a too powerful soul would destroy a weak vessel. But is that the only reason?"

He thought hard, trying to link what he had heard from everyone, and in the end, his eyes lit up and he gasped out loud, "Juin's emotions!"

When Juin wanted to ask something, Warlock held a hand up, signaling him to be quiet for now.

Pacing around, Warlock frowned hard as he mumbled excitedly, as if he had just found the key to a treasure box, "Juin's emotions affect Hades' soul. When he's mad or extremely agitated or feeling strong feelings, the color of his eyes would change."

Clapping his hand together, Warlock suddenly stopped in his track and said, "So Ashton had been keeping him a weakling, but at the same time, constantly be by his side to protect him. He didn't want Juin's emotions to undergo substantial changes, especially his negative emotions."

Raising a brow, Warlock sneered, "That's not really a good solution to the problem, right? Tsk… He's definitely still a kid for sure…"

"What?"

Warlock was no longer in thinking mode and had actually spoken out loud. Looking at Juin, who spoke out earlier in confusion, Warlock thought with a frown, "Juin's stunted growth… Did it have anything to do with Ashton as well?"

He suddenly thought of something and asked, "You said that Ashton attacked the other you with a helix that ended with a symbol. Do you remember the symbol?"

Juin thought for a while before nodding. He then took a yellow sticky note that was on Warlock's table, as well as a pen, and drew the symbol that he vaguely remembered. "This one, if I'm not wrong…"

"Ankh…" Warlock and Lucifer both frowned as they looked at the symbol.

Lucifer did not know about the symbol since Juin did not draw it out for him, so this was the first time he saw it.

"What does this mean?" Juin asked as he looked at both Warlock and Lucifer.

"To the Egyptians, the Ankh symbol represents life. I think I know where everything went wrong now…" Warlock mumbled before walking back and sitting down at his seat. He then looked at Juin and explained, "The Ankh symbol represents life, not only on Earth but on Alercane.

"This is my theory. When Jimmy Jab attacked you three years ago and forced open the wound on your chest, he had actually 'cracked' the shackle, which caused the red-eyed Juin to escape for the first time.

"And the spell that Ashton cast to seal that Juin back protected you by giving strength to the other part of your soul… Basically, Ashton gave part of his 'life force' to strengthen that part of your soul, the conscious yet weak part."

"The blue-eyed Juin," Lucifer mumbled. He was slowly grasping what Warlock was trying to say.

Warlock nodded. He then looked at Juin and said, "And that blue-eyed Juin was probably the reason why your growth has been stunted…"

"What?"

"Ashton gave power to the blue-eyed Juin, vastly strengthening it, but at the same, he locked your memories away in order to lock the red-eyed Juin, which is understandable. If your emotions are connected to the red-eyed Juin, then a premature tap into the memories would have caused a great mishap."

Juin and Lucifer exchanged glances, and it was then they realized just how close of a predicament they were in when the red-eyed Juin appeared at Jim Mack's house.

"If His Majesty weren't there…" Juin mumbled.

Warlock glanced at Juin. "You would have been swallowed by the red-eyed Juin when you lost control over your physical body."
