Chapter 2
"Your Highness Yu Xiao, Your Highness Yu Zhi!! Queen Bao asks for your presence on the carriage right now. She said the journey to ZhongTian Empire's Golden Capital is going to take a long time and that it's better to set off as early as possible."
There were no memories left in his body, this can only mean that the soul of real Yu Xiao already left this corporeal form. With not a single memory of the real Yu Xiao, he knows he's in inevitable trouble. But he felt that the name of the said place was strangely familiar, so he couldn't help but ask, "ZhongTian? Golden Capital?"
Yu Xiao felt this has something to do with his previous life, so he couldn't help but ask. Yu Zhi was provoked even more, "Don't tell me, you forgot about that as well? The commemoration for the establishment of the ZhongTian Empire is due in three days."
He didn't say anymore, so the two princes went outside and entered the carriage. There, Queen Bao patiently waited for them. "Yu Xiao, Yu Zhi!! What took you so long?".
Yu Xiao remained silent, thus, his brother responded on their behalf. There was no violent reaction anyway, so he continued to pretend air throughout the journey as the two beside him talked, at the same time listening to their conversation to get ideas. Her soothing voice made Yu Xiao felt at ease because at first, he thought it was going to be another game of survival; Yu Xiao let out a sigh of relief. It couldn't be helped, the failed transmigrator had no chance to learn this body's little world before encounters took place.
He wondered, 'Why are there only the three of us? '
As Yu Xiao meditated to calm the angst in his heart while attentively eavesdropping to the other party's conversation, his brother's tone became tense. "Is it going to be alright with father not coming with us? Yu...Elder brother Yu Xiao has been unwell since this morning. His sword even went missing."
You idiot! Keep your mouth shut, won't you?
He kept his eyes closed while expecting his mother to go aggressive. However, what he antic.i.p.ated for didn't happen; instead, a soft warm palm was gently placed on his brow, and the soothing voice of his mother rang in his ears. "Are you really unwell Yu Xiao? Why didn't you say right away?"
He gradually opened his eyes to meet the beautiful
A trip to ZhongTian Empire by carriage took them four days. If they used flying blades instead, it would only take them a few minutes. Yu Xiao learned that his body has a jindan. His brother, most likely, had cultivated too. However, they're going to pa.s.s by a lot of bustling towns and it'd be such a show if light trails suddenly appeared, crossing the sky on broad daylight… with people standing atop it. The time they arrived at ZhongTian's Golden Capital, the sun had already set. As soon as they stepped out of the carriage, Yu Xiao felt his angst becoming worse for no reason.
On the other hand, the bustling crowd that surrounded the ZhongTian Royal Palace noticed their appearance. Yet, the crowd only stopped at taking a glance; some approached to do some casual greetings and went away. It's no surprise, the Golden Capital was mostly the residence of wealthy and high-ranking people. Meeting royal clans was of normal occurrence to them, so they didn't think that highly of kings, queens, and emperors.
The three together with some servants proceeded to ZhongTian Palace. Looking at it's exterior or just by golden gates alone, one can say that the empire spent a good sum of money on building it. Aside from the moon that illuminated the radiant palace, flower lanterns in between the sakura trees that were lined up before the gates also lit up their way. The scenery puts off some bizarre yet majestic atmosphere. Every step Yu Xiao took towards the palace was directly proportional to the amount of dread and a sense of nostalgia that builds up in his heart. He should be feeling at ease given that he meditated throughout, but this irrational feeling only gets heavier.
Yu Zhi took heed of him during the entire journey and this time, of course, was no different. "Ge!.... Yu Xiao!!" As much as he tried to hide the uneasiness, his body sure knows how to act on its own. "What?"
He put his trembling hand behind his back so as to lessen the crystal clear fact that something was bothering him. Yu Zhi then pointed at his lower body, "Your legs are shaking."
He then took a glance at his legs and his eyes can confirm, his whole body really was quivering.
c.r.a.p! Even this part covered by loose robes, you can still see through them?
Is it the body? Is it my soul? Or is there a monster living in that palace?
Before he realized it, the golden gates had already opened for them. But a weird thing happened, when he stepped inside, he felt the sudden surge of spiritual energy in his body as if this whole place was his domain. It made his hair stood on end. The overwhelming feeling of something strong and indiscernible was still making him want to faint. Servants whose faces were covered by crimson veil escorted the trio into the inside of the palace. The interior was more luxurious and s.p.a.cious than theirs, but he hadn't had time to look around when he saw a white-clad man seated on the top several meters away from them. The man looked delicate and pure, contrary to the one Yu Xiao thought not too long ago. His innocent yet majestic golden eyes were staring brightly at them as they entered.
"Your Majesty Emperor Hao Xi!!" Yu Zhi and Queen Bao together with the escorting servants quickly bowed their heads in respect for him. The man indeed was the emperor.
While everybody's heads were lowered, Yu Xiao remained standing. His eyes were glued to the fine and graceful emperor in front of him; subsequently, upon hearing his name, his eyes widened, but he's still stuck in his standing position, not even moving a limb. It was as if his heart was tied into a string and the moment he made a move, death would be certain.
The two people beside him noticed the unusual expression on his face. Yu Zhi called him out,
"Yu Xiao!!"
With their call, his soul which seemed to have flown away from his body returned, and he immediately grasped the reality before him. Even though the consciousness of his soul was in a muddle, he managed to pull himself back and pay respect to the one before him.
"Your Majesty Emperor Hao Xi!"
