Chapter 10
In Hao Xi's case, he could be described as a flower yet to blossom before Mu Feng saved him. The sudden rise in his cultivation awakened the blocked spiritual energy in his body and enabled him to achieve a breakthrough in a single night.
The tigers were only gritting their teeth and didn't proceed closer. Hao took a pace forward then,
Putong!! He beheaded the closest three ninjlike men in the blink of an eye, their heads fell into the ground. The killing happened so fast that n.o.body saw his arms moved, even by a bit. Everyone else couldn't dare to escape. He then flashed a grim look on the sect leader. Ignoring the shocked expressions around him, he held Mu Feng's shoulders and whispered next to her ear, "Forgive me, Master!" Then he lifted and carried her, his left arm supported her back and right arm supported her legs. The sudden action of Hao Xi startled the two behind him, most especially Cheng Qiu. He yelled, "What are you doing?"
Again, Hao Xi ignored him then leaped to a branch of a tree. Then he leaped and leaped across the trees until none of their shadows could be seen. Mystified- the only word to describe Mu Feng as of the moment. She thought of this fellow as a rather peculiar being yet for some reason, it doesn't make her feel uneasy or in danger, but she nevertheless felt the need to ask.
"Hao Xi ~"
A soft voice rang
"Master, I sensed a strong presence of killing intent coming from an extremely powerful non-human being advancing towards our location. It must've perceived the intense battle that it wants to murder too. So I took you away. I'm sorry, Master!"
Mu Feng would always feel moved whenever this fellow talked to her. His words were so gentle that it could make one fear that one wrong word might shatter him completely. She waved her hand, "Hao Xi, from now on, stop apologizing to me. I appreciate your kindness every time, so please don't say sorry all the time."
They gazed and smiled at each other, devoid of negative energy. Hao Xi's countenance change, whatever it may be at the moment, whenever he has to look into the eyes of his master. His harmless air became instantly dark as he faced the enemies and held his weapon. Mu Feng's perspective of him was not the same as the perspective of others. He was indifferent even if other people's lives were at stakes such as Cheng Qiu's and Lai Yin's, he didn't bother at all.
Mu Feng wondered, "Why did you suddenly become like that?"
Hao Xi had a question mark on his brow, "Like what?"
She continued, "You called some tigers and foxes, had a double-bladed on your hand, gave off spiritual energy... It was like… you transformed into something else. "
His direction turned right, "I thought I'd wipe them out, but the creature instantly appeared out of nowhere. So we fled instead," he slowed down and continued, ".. not that I can't take his head but you were here."
Mu Feng felt her blood run cold.
Wipe them out?
This was the first time she witnessed the prowess of Hao Xi. Of course, no matter how she's calm and collected, it still sent s.h.i.+vers down her spine.
He has no killing intent but slashed three men's neck in a blink of an eye?
Although her instinct was telling her to trust this young man, she couldn't help but be a little wary.
I shall not offend this fellow. Who knows it could be my head next time?
She perceived that his weapon couldn't be seen anywhere, "Uh.. where's your blade?"
He smiled, "Oh, I left it there. It should've wiped them out now."
Her brows had a question mark on it, "You left it?"
The spiral wind blew once again then,...
Shua!!! The double-bladed sword came flying from behind and trailed after them. Mu Feng was amazed, "Wow. Does it have a brain on itself? Haha!"
He chuckled, "Yes."
The cheerful expression on her face faded, "You.. you don't mean it literally right?"
Hao Xi didn't answer and only chuckled again. She realized that she actually enjoyed being carried like a baby. Nevertheless, for a monarch cultivator, it's such a slap on her face if she couldn't even save herself. "Hey.. you bring me down. Do you really think I'm weak? I have feet... I can run, I can also jump!!"
He halted and put her down, then held her hand and glanced at her before he started leaping again. The distance between the branches of the trees was close, so they weren't having a hard time hopping from one to another. From one tree, Hao Xi picked a glossy crimson fruit and handed it to Mu Feng. He went gleeful, "Master, we're sort of lucky tonight. This only grows once every year and we managed to catch one." She looked at it and it sure seemed rare. She waved her other hand, "My dearest fellow, it's you who caught it. If this fruit really is that special, you don't just give it to anyone."
Hao Xi beamed, "Master, you're not just anyone. Please take it."
"No, you eat it."
"Master…"
"Alright, we'll cut it into half so we can both have a taste."
"...."
"Stubborn!"
