Chapter 11
Mu Feng noticed that his enormous double-bladed sword still followed and positioned behind them, so she extended one arm to poke on it. "It's real."
Hao Xi grasped its hilt and presented in front of her, "Of course, this is real!"
She slid her index finger on its sharp edge, "Nice!"
Her finger bled, the blade suddenly disappeared. He held her hand, "Why did you do that?"
She laughed, "What? You're worried about a little cut? Hahaha. It was really sharp, what's its name?"
He went calm, "It doesn't have a name, Master!"
A moment later, a faint voice called from behind them, "Your Highness!!" The two turned around and saw the enraged Cheng Qiu followed by Lai Yin, panting heavily. Cheng Qiu was about to go beat up Hao Xi, but the sight of the latter killing three people in a blink of an eye made him feel a little scared for his life. Then he saw the untroubled faces of the two, holding hands, while even mirthfully eating half pieces of a f.u.c.king glossy fruit!! Lai Yin thought of mischief. He glanced at their hands, his lips curled upwards. "Your Highness Mu Gongzhu, when you only want to have some time with *cough* your damoiseau,.."
Just then Mu Feng realized her hand still firmly held by Hao Xi, not letting go despite the teasing remark thrown on them. She hadn't yet opened her mouth when the latter went solemn again. "With that gap, you should've seen the creature coming."
Cheng Qiu responded, "If you're talking about the one who arrived after you left, then he's following behind us."
A figure emerged from the dark smiling creepily at them. Mu Feng abruptly glanced at Hao Xi. It wasn't a demonic ent.i.ty; but it was, precisely, because the figure wasn't what
Why were Cheng Qiu and Lai Yin not saying anything? Perhaps, they didn't know? Perhaps, they knew but couldn't act on it? Perhaps, they were forced?
Hao Xi returned her glance; unlike a while ago, his current countenance wasn't troubled, rather, at ease. Qian Zhou took heed of him, and his creepy smile faded in an instant. He sauntered towards Mu Feng who stood straight with an air of dignity despite feeling deep anxiety having this man, or demon, face her.
"This, my friends, is Qian Zhou, the second prince of JingHai kingdom," Lai Yin introduced.
Yes, he is. And now what?
The second prince of JingHai kingdom... wasn't a human!!!!
Just how much of a mystery resides in this country!!
"And this, Your Highness, is my friend Ye Sui," Lai Yin pointed at her. Of course, he won't reveal Mu Gongzhu's ident.i.ty to a possible enemy. He continued, "Then this one is her betrothed, Hao Xi."
...
So that was what happened. Hao Xi simply became Mu Feng, aka, Ye Sui's betrothed. Alright, sounds convincing, seeing how intimate they stood together.
Mu Gongzhu had been known by outsiders as the Hidden Ice Princess. Her demeanor being- cold as snow, solemn as night, dignified as queen, righteous as G.o.d and pure as jade. However, the one in front of Qian Zhou right now, well, still Mu Feng except that she doesn't seem as 'pure'. They had never met each other anyway.
"Alright." Qian Zhou smiled once again before walking away.
So that's it, he...he walked away, just like that. Pretty odd, right?
Lai Yin and Cheng Qiu immediately told the two of the unforeseen arrival of JingHai kingdom's second prince. Qian Zhou turned out to be visiting the Cen sect and happened to hear the sound of clas.h.i.+ng blades. He thought that an enemy infiltrated the kingdom as Cen Sect mountain was located near the border, so he's overflowing with killing intent only cultivators of higher levels could detect. He and Lai Yin knew each other and had met a few times before, but the latter hadn't thought of it so much just as Mu Feng and Hao Xi did.
Either way, it baffled Mu Feng. First, this seemingly large sect was practicing unorthodox cultivation. Now, the second prince was known to be acquainted with this cult. And most importantly, he doesn't emit the same energy as a human at all. She only had one question in mind, what could be the reasoning behind all of this?
The group temporarily let out a sigh of relief, for at least they didn't end up being the sacrifice for Death G.o.d Bai Si. G.o.ds regulate every aspect of human lives, from the air humans breathe to wealth. Usually, they're depicted as righteous ent.i.ties residing in the heavenly realm. However, there were also those G.o.ds who came to existence because humans asked for them when they didn't even exist naturally from the world. One of them would be the G.o.d of death, whom people believed to be taking lives, escorting souls of the deceased to the underworld, human deaths to be his source of energy and his domain being every existing burial ground on the mundane realm.
Back to the four who just escaped Bai Si. Cheng Qiu couldn't endure the sight any longer and spoke, "Hao Xi, the threat is now gone. Will you drop your hands off Her Highness and explain yourself to us?"
And it dropped. Hao Xi paced two steps backward. Mu Feng explained on his behalf, "Cheng Qiu, Hao Xi wanted to protect me. He explained everything to me already, let's get over it."
As always, he couldn't argue with Her Highness when she had started speaking for someone else. Her stance could be said to be rock solid, her opinion would not change no matter how one persuades or disagrees with her. They could only descend the mountain and roam around JingHai. For should they cross the bridge, their ident.i.ties would be revealed.
Down the foot of the mountain lies the Town of YongQin. The state of the town before them was disturbingly unpleasant. The group rambled, Lai Yin led the way. He's the most skilled when it comes to going to new places, he does it every timeā¦. when collecting concubine.
