Chapter 16
When he landed on the island, some girls greeted him at the airport, and showered him with flowers. He was not expecting that, but he kept his cool, and thanked them. He had a goofy smile on his face, and one of the girls told him he looked adorable. Well, he was adorable now.
Fred took a cab to his hotel. The driver talked to him about the island, the pretty girls, the beaches. Fred replied with "Wow's", but soon realized the cab driver didn't care whether he responded or not. So, Fred just listened to the guy talk at him about the music, the dancing, and the parties. When he arrived, Fred gave the guy a tip, and the cab driver drove away.
He took a look at the hotel. It was splendid. Just like the one he saw in the brochure, only better. He had lunch in the restaurant in the hotel, and it was the best seafood he ever had in his life. He went to check out his room. It was large, large everything. The bed, the Jacuzzi, the TV, the windows. Fred was glad he did the thing. He tried lying down on the bed. It was so soft!
Fred didn't want to spend his vacation in his room. Although, that didn't sound bad, either. It was still daytime, so he decided to go on a tour around the local area. The tour guide was a pretty woman, and the group all seemed eager to just look around. Fred was, too. The guide told them about the island's history, the culture, and the historic sites that they pa.s.sed by, and stopped by. All the while, the people were sipping on juicy drinks and laughing and just having a good time. Fred was, too.
Everyone was friendly. Fred said hi, and kept
As the sun set, the tour was back where it had started. Everyone said their goodbyes, and Fred hit up the bar in the hotel. The bartender was pretty. The waitresses were pretty. Even the other patrons and the tourists all looked like they were out of a fas.h.i.+on magazine. Fred sipped on his fruity drink, and let himself enjoy being drunk. A few of the girls approached him, and Fred had some small talk with them, but he politely shooed them off. The girls didn't seem to mind, and Fred made sure to buy all of them a drink or two. Why not, right?
It was a Wednesday, and Fred was almost halfway through the vacation. He was still enjoying himself. He was at the beach, and he felt himself sink into the sand. The sea breeze was breezy, and the waves waved. Fred heard people laughing, playing in the water, all very neatly, too. He thought it sounded like chimes, the laughter.
He saw her. She had sun-kissed skin, and wet, curly hair. She was in a red string bikini. Fred found himself staring at her. She was sitting on the sand, and she looked over at him, and smiled. Fred smiled back, and waved at her. She beckoned him over to her, and Fred walked over, and sat down next to her.
She and he talked, and they laughed together.
Her name was Emily, a local gal. She found Fred to be a sweetheart. So square. Very unlike the guys she was used to, the local boys or the other tourists. He didn't seem to try at all. Not that she didn't catch him glancing at her body, but he didn't brag or use one-liners, or...flirt? He was just talking with her. She kind of liked it.
Fred just let the talk go where it may, and they were getting deeper and deeper. They watched the sunset, and surprisingly to Emily, he asked her to grab a drink with him back at the hotel he was staying at. Emily felt happy about that. And she followed him there.
The music was slow, and the lights were dim. A shade of red. Fred and Emily were dancing together, and they were looking into each others eyes. Emily saw eyes that were deep as the ocean, eyes that had seen a lot. She wondered what those could have been. Fred saw longing in her eyes, and he felt it, too. So, he whispered in her ear, to go to his room. She did.

It had been over a month now in island paradise. Fred dipped into his savings to stay longer, with Emily.
Yes. They had s.e.x. A lot.
Emily took him to a waterfall in a tropical area. They watched the waterfall, and both of them didn't say anything.
"Fred, this isn't going to work."
Fred replied, slowly, "I know."
Fred looked at her. He saw tears in her eyes. But she didn't let them fall. She smiled at him.
"I think I'm pregnant."
Fred smiled. Emily was glad he did.
"I'm keeping him. Or her." Emily knew what he would say.
"Thank you." Fred said to her, and he kissed her.
"I love you."
