Chapter 25
"I have to talk with my wife about this as well as with Marie. I need to know what they think about this first. I cannot promise anything for now," Timothy said as he nervously fidgeted his thumbs around.
Arwin nodded, "Okay, we do understand. However, the offer will close after three days. Hopefully, by then, we are out of here," she said before drinking water again and continuing, "So, Timothy, can you tell me about the outside world, at least?" She asked cutely.
"Okay, I owe this to you. I think I'm the most experienced about the outside world, so let me share all this information to maximize your chance to survive if this is going to be our last time together," Timothy stated seriously.
As Timothy drank from a gla.s.s of water, Arwin dipped the pen at the ink bottle to be ready for taking notes of the things Timothy will share.
"So you might not know, but only the city and the native villages are safe. Otherwise, if you don't have a small totem or did not join a party, you are in constant danger of nightmare-like creatures. But, the totems are rare. Only the native shaman knows what the totems are or how they work. For the creatures, we even don't know how they look like there are regular wolves, ghoul's, zombies, etc. There are also a lot of other variations and mutations. The scariest ones are those you cannot see." Timothy started to explain.
"These scary creatures hide their appearance within the shadows of the night. The only indication that they are there, not far from you, is once you hear a successive clicking type noise.
"We don't even know what the other kinds of creatures out there are. We haven't seen everything. We don't even know if there are different kinds of invisible ones. The natives aren't willing to share their information because of obvious reasons."
"For me, the weirdest one was the doppelgangers. I managed to witness one when I was at a party to gather wood for Silas. That one came from a forest saying that it was the real Timothy, and I was the fake one. Almost everything looks perfectly the same, even the voice. However, I had a small scar at my hand that was still bleeding from the previous fight, and the doppelganger didn't have it. Because of this, we knew it was fake, and when we attacked it. That creature just let a loud hiss and some kind of scream out before running back to the forest." He continued as he reminisces about the dreadful experience. It was never easy to see yourself responding and looking at without your control.
"So there can be lots of unknown monsters and creatures on the continent. That is why they do pay quite a lot of materials that we gather or produce from here. Your best chance would be to find a native village that would accept you to survive outside." Timothy drank a gla.s.s of water again.
"It could be interesting to capture those creatures and open them up. I really want to see how they are made." The doctor said. His voice had a tinge of excitement and genuine interest.
"Oh, that sounds like an exciting adventure and challenge for now. If I could set a pirate base here, it could be one of the safest places for a base if we would have a totem." Arwin brightly replied as if there weren't any dangers outside at all.
"Are you both nut jobs? Did you both hit your head so hard that you lost your sense of danger completely?" Timothy asked out loudly.
He wanted to tell them his most scary experience to make them agree that his plan would be better and safer. However, the two in front of him ended up mesmerized by the outside world instead.
"But Timothy, just think of all of the unexplored regions and all of the treasures that are still waiting for their taker. If we could have a s.h.i.+p that could travel around the world and come back here without worrying about the fuel, we probably would have one of the safest places to hide." Arwin added.
The doctor continued it, "Also, think of all the medical and scientific research that we can do when outside there and how we could advance or learn more about the world and how it works." Both the doctor and Arwin had gleaming eyes.
Timothy didn't know what to say anymore."As I said, I will talk with my wife first and plan out what I'm going to do." He finally answered, drinking the gla.s.s of water empty.
"Okay, just take care of yourself, and we will go by this plan for now. If we aren't successful with this, we can always try to go with your plan." Arwin said while going back to planning with the doctor and Mark.
