Chapter 16
And from the smile on Eliza's face at the moment, she must have been close to suffocating in that apartment. It made Trigger feel guilty at keeping her inside for so long.
But it was expected, wasn't it?
After Hide had left, Trigger noticed the number of people following them around had increased. And as it was his mission to protect Eliza and the child, Trigger had Eliza secretly pack and stock up on necessities. They will be moving once Trigger confirms the intentions of the people following them.
Eliza was looking through baby onesies when a brown haired woman came to stand beside him. Trigger looked at the woman briefly as she opened her mouth to speak.
"Is there a reason why you called me here Trigger of Hide famiglia?"
The blonde smirked, he turned his gaze back to watching his charge.
"Just collecting my debt Isolda of FBI"
The woman huffed and followed Trigger's gaze into Eliza. Isolda''s sharp eyes took in every detail they can see. Sucking a sharp breath, she turned to Trigger.
"Is that-..."
"Yeah"
"What do you want me to do?"
Trigger huffed a laughter and glanced at Isolda from the corner of his eyes. Watching her trailing Eliza's movements carefully.
"Aren't you agreeing a little too fast?"
Isolda sighed and turned to him, her eyes serious but sincere
"Let's be frank. I owe you a lot Trigger, for you, Annabeth and Hide. But Hide is in the prison and Annabeth is dead if the news was right. I couldn't do anything for them so if helping you protect your sister is what I have to do to repay you then I will. So tell me what you need, I will do my best to help you."
" Alright, I give, I give. "
" Good, now tell me! "
Trigger laughed and nodded then schooled his features. Causing Isolda to do the same, he started talking.
" You probably noticed but there are people following us. "
" I did, do you want me to get rid of them for you? "
"Not that's not it" the older male shook his head.
"I want you to provide us with a safe place"
Isolda sighed with a nod.
"I'll see what I can do. I will contact you when I find a place"
"That's all I ask…"
She nodded, and turned her gaze back to watch the man beside her. Trigger was looking at Eliza with an unreadable expression.
"Trigger…. Does she?..."
The question was obvious. 'Does she know?'
'Does she know that you're related?'
'Does she remember?'
Trigger closed his eyes briefly, inhaling.
"No, no she doesn't."
"I see. Well I should be going now. Ring me if you need anything else."
With that she turned away, intending to walk off. When Trigger called after her suddenly.
"Are you sure?" 'about helping a criminal?'
Isolda grinned, her golden eyes twinkling with confidence as they stared at his own.
"I'm sure. Isn't that what the boss wanted me to do?"
Trigger huffed a laughter and gave her a grin just as crooked as her's.
"Well, See you around Canary~"
"You as well, Elias."
She winked then disappeared into the crowd.
Trigger laughed once again.
"I hate that name"
With that he walked towards Eliza with a smile on his lips. He may be a bit pa.s.sionate at times but if he has to act to protect those he treasures, then he can play and outplay them all.
'Never underestimate the Hide Famiglia. Even fallen, we can destroy you. "

At dinner that night, Judas sat quietly curled
He knew he was being ungrateful by wasting food when there are people out there, starving and working hard for the food. Even then, Judas could not eat. Not when he knows he will throw up once he takes a bite.
Finally relenting, he pushed the plate away. Under the disapproving eyes of Rowan, the blue eyed young man stood up and made a move for the door.
"Judas, can you follow me?"
Rowan asked as he finished his food. Judas looked back at the older man confused but nonetheless nodded. It wouldn't hurt to know what the man wanted anyway. The graying head butler nodded and got off of the table.
"Then please follow me"
With that he started walking down the hallway, leading away from the dining hall with Judas following after him like a lost puppy.
Rowan turned right and opened the door to the indoor training room, before continuing his way inside until he stood in the middle of it.
Judas looked at him curiously, unsure of what he was supposed to do and what they were doing there.
Rowan merely took off his jacket. Hanging it from one of the training machines, he turned to Judas and got into the stance. Judas looked at him strangely, his brows furrowed and head tilted in confusion.
"Umm, Rowan what are you doing?"
"I want you to attack me"
The other man stated calmly as Judas choked.
"W-wha!?"
"Attack me Judas"
"B-But-"
"No, no buts. Attack me right now."
Judas shook his head, backing away. While Rowan frowned at him.
"No, no I refuse!"
He refused. Judas turned towards the door and started walking away but ducked down and away from the kick aimed at his neck. It hit the wall beside him and created cracks.
He gulped and looked up at quiet, grim looking Rowan. Who only whispered 'You leave me no choice'
Judas moved to the side, avoiding a punch aimed at his windpipe. Rowan was going for the kill, and he was not gonna stop no matter what Judas did.
Judas knew that, he knew that but he still did not want to attack Rowan. He didn't want the old man to hate him more than he did.
He paused…
Where did that thought come from?..
Using the lapse of attention, Rowan lunged forward, his fist about to connect with Judas's face.
.
.
Only it didn't hit anything.
Judas had moved out of the way, he grabbed the arm and turned on his heel, throwing Rowan over his shoulder. With his other hand holding a knife that was suddenly there.
He blinked but did not remove the knife from its place by Rowan's artery.
Instead Judas stared at him warily while the old man laughed. His voice vibrating in his throat against the skin of Judas's hand.
"why are you laughing?"
He asked. Oh he sounded like a pouting child didn't he? Judas flushed a little when Rowan chuckled.
"No, you just proved me something. Can you let me up? I promise I won't attack you again."
He added the last part, seeing Judas's hesitation. The younger man finally relented and removed the knife then moved away from Rowan a bit.
The butler got up, cracking his back with a groan. He then fixed his appearance and turned to Judas.
"Judas, two hours ago Donna called and ordered me to evaluate then train you.
With that stunt just now, you have pa.s.sed my little test. You have quick and well honed reflexes along with good instincts. Training will be at 10 AM every morning. Don't be late. ".
After that he left, leaving the dumb founded Judas behind.
'What just happened?'
Yeah, a what indeed.

Water dropped down the sewers creating an echo on the walls, joined by the cackling of the radio.
" Roy, you got anything?"
"Not yet, you Lily?"
"No, nothing yet."
Suddenly a sound of roaring shook the whole place. Liliana froze, looking around warily.
She did not feel anything so it probably isn't Gifted. So a beast? If so what? Lion? Bear.
Bringing the radio close to her mouth once more, she spoke.
"Roy you got that?"
No answer.
"Roy? Are you there? If so please answer me."
There was nothing but the sound of bell chiming now. Roy wasn't answering and she was worried.
Liliana repeated the sentences a few more times, calling and waiting for an answer that never came.
"Roy!"
"Roy!!"
"Answer me!!"
"Roy!!"
Finally unable to contain her worry, the black haired beauty ran back. Hoping to make it in time in case something had happened to her boyfriend.
She ran, splas.h.i.+ng the dirty water everywhere. Once there, she paused. Picking up the discarded radio laying on the ground.
There was nothing.
No sign of Roy,
Of struggle.
Nor was there a sign of someone living.
Only the broken radio remained.
And Liliana Coldwell knew no more.
