Chapter 40
After Si Weimin dropped Xu Jia Li at the entrance of the venue, he parked the car a few meters away from it. He waited another 10 minutes inside the car before he decided to go inside. He would just look for her from afar – knowing that Xu Jia Li reminded him not to talk to her unless the situation calls for it.
The entrance of the art exhibit was designed with flowers and balloons. The colors were a combination of black and gold. It was a large indoor place, he could clearly see the name of Paul Mcmillan written inside.
The designs were simple and elegant. The atmosphere was even made to be dramatic with the different beautiful paintings hanged on the wall. He focused his gaze inside trying to look for Xu Jia Li. He was feeling agitated as a familiar face caught his eyes.
'Really? Of all people, why this woman!'
With deep and piercing black eyes, he walked inside and pretended not to see the least person he wanted to see that night.
He donned a suit personally designed for him by Moon Sky. It was a black expensive three-piece, well-tailored suit. It fitted him perfectly that his broad shoulders and firm muscles made the suit look even more elegant and alluring. It gave off an aura of a man in control – powerful and opulent.
His
They whispered to each other and began to drool over him. One of them took the chance and daringly approached Si Weimin, "Such a pleasant surprise to see you here, CEO Si."
Si Weimin glanced at the sophisticated woman on his side,
"I'm Chen Ruan, of Chen Holdings. It's so nice to see you here, CEO Si." She bowed her head as a sign of respect for him before she continued, "My father is also here tonight, CEO Si. You had –"
Before she even finished talking, Si Weimin furrowed his brows, sensing that he was becoming impatient and uninterested, she smiled at him and said, "CEO Si, I heard you collect paintings, too. I have my collections as well."
Instead for hearing his reply, he appraised her before he turned his gaze away as if discarding her presence. He walked away not even saying a word. The woman felt embarra.s.sed as her gaze bore on his back.
"He won't be called the devil incarnate for nothing." The women whispered as they threw pitiful gazes at her which only made Chen Ruan even more infuriated. She gnashed her teeth and turned her back.
'You'll regret what you've done this night, Si Weimin.' She scoffed inside.
With a serious face, Si Weimin scanned the room, 'Where is she?'
He was really not a fan of art exhibits, he only collected paintings – Xu Jia Li's paintings to be specific, which earned him the people's idea that he loved painting. He always received invitations for art exhibits but he never attended, except for times when Xu Jia Li's paintings were there.
So when he received an invitation for this art exhibit, he disregarded it like the rest. He didn't even know Paul Mcmillan. He had no time to admire other people's works.
Si Weimin was scanning the room when a particular painting captured his eyes. Like what Zhou Bingbing gave her, it was the second time that his interest was caught by something not painted by Xu Jia Li.
With eyes full of interest, he walked towards it. It caught his attention that he could not stop but stood in front of it as he admired it. It was a painting of a woman dressed in a simple, yellow, summery dress. Her hair was flowing freely.
What caught his attention even more was the look on the woman's eyes. It was full of life. It looked real as it shared its deepest core. It was full of sadness, the forlorn look on the woman's face could pierce anyone's heart as if it was speaking of a long sad story.
He was too caught up in the painting that he barely noticed when someone approached him. He was startled when someone suddenly grabbed hold of his right arm. He looked on his side and was greeted by a provocative Zhou Bingbing.
With petulant gaze, he shook his arms trying to take off her arms.
