The Forgotten Otsutsuki

Chapter 2

"Oy, Kakas.h.i.+! Why did Pakkun run in here towards the Hokage Tower without saying a word and what are you doing with the Hyuuga brat?" The first man said.

"Yo, Izumo. I was requesting an emergency audience with the Hokage. I found the kid outside of the village," Kakas.h.i.+ gave them a small salute as he said it without stopping our walk in through the gaping entrance. I bowed to them for a moment before following Kakas.h.i.+'s footsteps to this 'Hokage Tower'.

The Hokage Tower was located in front of a stone wall. There were four faces was carved onto the said wall. I reasoned that these faces must be the respected figures in the village to be immortalized as such. When we reached the top of the tower, we entered a room after Kakas.h.i.+ knocked timidly on the door. Inside was two-man; one was older, wearing a red hat and what looks like a white robe whilst the other one was wearing an emerald robe. When I made eye contact with the man, we were both shocked but he narrowed his eyes on me in an instant.

"So it's true, they do wield Byakugan," I thought silently.

"What is the meaning of this? Who is this boy? Why was I summoned here, Kakas.h.i.+?" the man said. The way that he stood proudly, suggested that he must be the leader of the Hyuugas. Kakas.h.i.+ was visibly taken aback and he let out a nervous laugh.

"Hias.h.i.+-sama, I found him outside of the village. I thought that you knew the boy personally. If you did not recognize him, then perhaps you should hear his story," Kakas.h.i.+ explained.

"Introduce yourself, boy," The elder man asked me. I bowed to him. I knew enough that this is the man called Hokage. I recognized him from the carving but he looked much younger on it. So he must have been in the post for a long time. I had also concluded that with that much time, one could gain enough wisdom to notice any lie. Thus, I must be careful of my words with him.

"My name is Otsutsuki Hikari," I said. The two men raised their eyebrow. I noticed the Hyuuga leader was more taken aback from this as his eyes did a double-take on me.

"How did you ended up in the forest?" The Hokage continued. I told them everything from the inciting accident up until the point that I was found by Kakas.h.i.+. I decided to not leave out any detail but the Rinne-Sharingan. Since that they are accustomed to chakra, they might come for it. So it was easier not to tell it. When I finished, the shock was expectedly written on their faces.

"What was your mother's name?" The Hokage continued asking.

"What is that got to do with anything? My mother's name is Otsutsuki Kaguya," I said, indulged. This time they were immensely shocked about it.

"Otsutsuki Kaguya was the name of the mother of the Sage of Six Path." The Hokage said.

Oh, d.a.m.n, I have a bad feeling about this.

"Would you show me your third eye?" he asked. It was my turn to be surprised.

"How did you know about it?" I asked.

"A student of mine once told me about a prophecy he received from the Old Toad of the Myoboku-Zan long ago.

"May I see it? I promise you that the people here would do you no harm," he asked.

"If what you had said is indeed the truth, this could only mean one thing," I said as I undo the knot at the back of my head, "I was shot to the future."

I let the cloth fell and I focused my chakra and the eye slip opened. The Hyuuga was noticeably amazed as he took in my chakra control. With his Byakugan, he should know my chakra capacity right then. With all the facts considered, this Hyuuga clan must have been a descendant of a long line of Otsutsuki. How else would a mortal be born with the celestial eyes of the Otsutsuki clan?

"The boy speaks the truth. Rinne-Sharingan was the ultimate dojutsu obtained by the Sage of Six Path before sealing the rabbit demon, Otsutsuki Kaguya," the Hokage explained.

"What?!" I was angry, "how could he do that to Mother? And what's with the name? Rabbit demon? How dare he!"

"A lot has changed after the point of your departure. This story was immensely old and if my memory serves me right--your mother ate the fruit of the Divine Tree, she was consumed by the power she wields and changed," he continued to say, cutting me off.

"My mother would never do that. She knew that the tree messes with her head," I countered.

She would never be the person she was fighting against.

"I do not know the truth but with my age, Hikari-ouji, I think that she must have been distraught with losing you. Losing one's child would undoubtedly make you do crazy things. The Old Toad Sage should know the real story. I will call Jiraiya back to take you to meet him but it will take time. That old student of mine is currently out of the country," The Hokage suggested. I stood there in chagrin as I took in his words, in the end, I knew that I must gather more facts about this matter.

"Pardon me, sir, but as a boy further from his past, I am no one's prince. If I would be allowed to stay here in your village, I would very much like to meet your old student, but," I bowed to him.

"But what?" he asked.

"I am greatly discouraged because I neither have a place to stay nor could I afford one," I managed. The previously silent Hyuuga leader suddenly spoke to me.

"If I may, the Hyuugas would be honored if you would like to stay at our compound, Hikari-oujisama," He said. I then bowed towards him.

"The honor would be of this lost boy, Hyuugsama. I thank you for your offer and apologized that I had to inconvenience you of my stay. But, this boy would appreciate it if you would refrain from calling me oujisama. This boy's time as a prince had long since ended," I said and the Hyuuga Clan head was smiling at me. I could tell that he was pleased with the way I spoke. Politeness and formality was always the number one priority with Aino Ane-san.

"Hias.h.i.+, if you wish to take him in, we should provide a cover story for him. If other people or countries found out about his existence, it would mean a war could happen in the quest for the boy's power. Not that there are a lot of them did know a thing anyway but I could be wrong," The Hokage said.

"I would take him as my ward if needed be, Sandaime-sama," The Hyuuga said confidently. I was immensely taken aback by this.

"Please forgive my rudeness but you must not do so lightly to a stranger such as me," I said.

"Our clan had safeguarded the Byakugan for centuries. It was a duty handed to us from generation to generation by the predecessor of the Hyuuga clan; Otsutsuki Hamura, twin brother of the Sage of Six Paths. This meant that you are family. It would be natural to welcome a family home," Hias.h.i.+ explained. I was close to tears. I never had expected to be welcome as a family here after all this. I am not one from this time.

"I never knew about this," Sandaime commented whilst Hias.h.i.+ just smiled.

"It was a tale pa.s.sed from a Hyuuga clan head to his successor. You were never meant to found out about it," Hias.h.i.+ explained. I was too overcome by the happiness that I immediately bowed at him, my tears started to fell. I felt a hand rustled my hair.

"You are too polite to live elsewhere in this village anyway. You would fit right in as a Hyuuga. But perhaps you should learn to act your age here," Kakas.h.i.+ said. I rose and wiped my tears.

"I couldn't do anything about it. It was the way I was raised," I grumbled, "Kakas.h.i.+-san, may I go to the place you talked about, to learn about ninjutsu?"

"You have to ask the Hokage about that," He said.

"If you want to go to the Ninja Academy, you had to make it official to be the ward of the Hyuugas. They need official records for doc.u.mentation purposes," Sandaime explained. I agreed and bowed at him.

"You do have to keep the eye a secret for your safety," He continued.

"My mother had taught me enough to know that anyone who wields power will quest for more," I concurred while tying the black cloth on my forehead.

"Maturity, unbecoming of a child your age. You would excel in the academy and this life if you hold to that principle, Hikari-kun," Sandaime chuckled as he said it. He then wrote something on a scroll and gave it to Hias.h.i.+.

"This is the official decree declaring you as his guardian. He would need clothing and supplies for which I will send an ANBU to you to bring those to you," the Hokage said. Hias.h.i.+ took it and thanked the Hokage.

"We should head home now," Hias.h.i.+ said to me. I was so happy to hear the words that I smiled too wide to my liking and nodded enthusiastically. A trait I inherited from Mother. Then I bowed to Kakas.h.i.+.

"Thank you for your kindness, Kakas.h.i.+-san. May I meet you some other time?" I asked him.

"I lived in the same area of the Hyuuga compound so you can visit me anytime if I am home and if you know how to find me," He explained. I thanked him again and then at the Hokage. He wished me well before I left his office with Hias.h.i.+. We walked for a long time until we reached the Hyuuga compound. There was a sign at the top of the door frame suggesting that it was the Clan's crest. When I went through the door, I was surprised.
