The Dark King – Chapter 6

Perfect

Jura(Julia) and Gray refer to Dudian as Dean because that name was given to him by kids in orphanage. So it is kind of stuck to him!

"There is no common language between us." Annia indifferent eyes swept over Dudian’s face, continued: "If your mother didn’t help to cure my father’s disease, we would have never met. Do not try to think that by virtue of this kindness, you can climb over the social barriers and join our family. I, Annia, will not find an incompetent husband, so that I lose face."

"Although you desperately imitate elegance and n.o.blesse, pretend to be like an aristocratic gentleman. But so you know, in front of the real aristocracy, you can not hide away your roots! Civilians are not nurtured from birth, lack n.o.ble blood. A practice of a day or two can not cover up your natural stature."

Annia looked at Dudian coldly, and said, "You may look clean. It’s not the same as the smelly neighborhood workers, but it’s not anything surprising. The idea that I will fancy you, let you into our Avril home and help your parents to join the commercial district, this is nothing but a joke! Wishful thinking on your part."

"My father’s kindness to your family, it is out of politeness. It does not mean that they should act shamelessly and throw away their self-respect! You do not know the severity of consequences!

Dudian just quietly looked at her, waiting for her to finish.

Annia said so much in one breath. Afterwards she saw Dudian’s experssion to be calm not changing at all, she could not help but frowned. Soon again under the cold face she continued: "I said these so you may not understand that you are not good enough for me and I will not let you be my husband. Stop having unreal dreams!"

Dudian quietly looked at her, said: "Finished?"

Annia sneered: "finished, if you want to say anything go on."

Dudian laughed and looked into her eyes and softly said: "First of all, I have to say thank you"

Annia felt confused and her face expression turned to be of someone who was stunned.

Dudian ignored her reaction and continued, "First, thank you for rejecting me! So that I can avoid being in conflict with my parents."
Annie had a doubt in her heart. Wasn’t his father trying to stuff him into their house?

"Second, thank you again!" said Dudian: "Thank you for letting me know that even a little girl like you can not be ignored."

Annie picked her eyebrows, she grew up early. When she was eight years old, she already had her future planned. In comparison to other kids who were playing around. Nevertheless this child in front of her talked in an old-fas.h.i.+oned tone, as if he had experienced a lot in life.

When she was ready to speak again, Dudian turned his body to leave. He didn’t pause or look back "Maybe, I am not competent with sword or I’m not a fine equestrian. But

Until his shadow disappeared from the line of sight, Annie wasn’t able to react. She did not expect this small child’s action. He even dared to take first step and leave. Her heart was filled with anger which was shown on her red face. However because of excellent childhood education and training, she controlled her feelings the next moment. She bit her teeth, stamped the heel up, maintaining the lady’s posture, with the fastest speed tried to keep up.

As Dudian returned to the hall, he slowed down his pace so that Annia could reach him. He paused but didn’t look back but soon walking posture filled with aristocratic lady-like grace Annia came to his back and said: "Wait a moment! If adults ask you then reply them that you have someone else who you like"

Keeping his slow pace, Dudian replied "Why should I say so?"

"If I have not guessed wrong, your father would have already agreed to the marriage" he said indifferently. "But you did not agree. That is to say if I agree we are going to get married, aren’t we?"

Annia’s aggressive face suddenly turned white. If Dudian said agreed, her father would go with the marriage. Today, she and her mother would deliberately put pressure on Gray couple, so that they would not ask her hand.

"How did you know?"

"You did tell me." Dudian said lightly, "if you have the option to decline, then you can simply reject the marriage with a simple word of no. Moreover you do not have to say so much to me or even threaten me. Your mother is a bit tricky though. I think she will get direct refusal of my adoptive parents.

Annia was a little shocked Dudian said almost word for word like prior to meeting them he had hear Annia and her mother consultation. For a moment she felt as if she was seen through by the little boy who was still as calm as the first moment she had met him. However she did not regret their choice, silent for a while she continued: "If I decline, I am worried that your parents will find my father."

Dudian shook his head slightly. "No, as long as you refused this "marriage" thing will pa.s.s. Things would have been very simple, but you made it more complex."

"How do you know?" Annia frowned. She was irritated by Dudian’s confident tone.

"You overestimated their guts and underestimated their self-esteem," explained Dudian, who was not convinced, but had the patience to try and not expect too much.

Annia frowned, thinking for a moment, said: "Why do not you say there is another girl who you like?"

"Are you not a n.o.bleman? Don’t you understand the point that you can refuse but I can’t?" Said Dudian, looking directly at her.

Annia looked at him suddenly smiled "By my refusal, you want them to think you are not good in front of me, so they are not angry with you?

Dudian knew that he was seen. But he felt no embarra.s.sment: "Anyway, I already said to you what you should do. I’m in no position to decline. So think about consequences on your own!" Finished speaking Dudian went toward the entrance without waiting for Annia.

"You … …" Annia looked at his back. She was very angry. Eventually stamped her feet and went into mansion.

"Miss, you came back." Black suited saw Dudian and Annia appear, was realieved. His face showed a big smile.

Annia was indeed a n.o.ble birth, after a few steps, her anger was completely calmed down.

Carriage with the white flower flag drove through commercial area to residential area. Dudian’s family got of the carriage and went into their house as soon as carriage stopped moving.

Jura looked at her husband’s gloomy face. Holding Dudian’s little hand she went to open the door.

"That was a lame excuse!"

"Clearly they despise our ident.i.ty. Aristocrats…ha… group of hypocrats!

At home, Gray vented out anger within his heart.

"Hush" Jura said "whisper, do not let anyone else hear."

Gray stifled up, bitterly did not say anything. Speaking after aristocracy was a big crime.

"Dean, go back to the room and have a rest. You must be tired. I’ll call you out for dinner" Jura said to Dudian.

Gray looked at Dudian. His lips slightly moved but he did not say anything. Although in his heart was slumped. After a month spent with Dudian he knew that he was a nice kid. Dudian would never do anything impolite. The only ones to blame were him and Jura because their vision was too high.
Dudian nodded and went back into his room.

Two weeks later. After four long months, rainy season finally come to an end.
It was sunny outside.

Gray looked at Dudian who had woken up early. He smiled and said: "Dean, soon various schools will start. Do you want to go to school to learn to read and write?"
