The Buggiest System V1

Chapter 71

At this point, Zhou Zhenya was too dumbfounded to even refuse his order, and ended walking out of the room and towards the kitchen, preparing a sandwich for her brother! She placed the sandwich on a plate.

"This sandwich looks tasty."

It was only when she was already heading back to the computer room that she realized something was amiss. "Wait a minute... Why am I giving him food?!"

"Might as well...," Zhou Zhenya picked the sandwich up and took a bite, antic.i.p.ating its taste. For some reason, Zhou Zhenya felt strangely confident that the taste would be better than usual.

The sandwich reached her taste buds. Have you heard of the saying, "The higher you go, the lower you fall down" or something along those lines?

Zhou Zhenya's expectations for the taste of the sandwich were too high, so when she ended tasting the actual sandwich, she couldn't help but be extremely disappointed. She took a couple more bites to confirm.

"It tastes... bland. Ehm...," Zhou Zhenya was disheartened. In her heart, she was glad that the sandwich didn't reach her brother's tongue. Otherwise, as the better chef he is, he would have criticized her dish harshly.

"Bro, I don't want to!" She ended up walking to the table and responding to her brother's earlier command while putting the plate with the sandwich back on the table.

She left it there and headed towards her room, where she now had a strong desire to study...

.....

Zhou Lei antic.i.p.ated the meal from his sister. Since she too had absorbed the Master Chef Book, with her superior stats than his, he wondered if it would be enough to satisfy his taste.

Hearing Zhou Zhenya's refusal after such a long time of waiting made Zhou Lei mad. He stood up and headed to the kitchen, as his stomach was growling.

As he left, the computer was still typing in letters, without any input from the keyboard. It seems that... the earlier input from the keyboard was too fast and the computer could not keep up at all! It was only now that the computer started processing his later taps.

The only reason that Zhou Lei didn't notice this was that he himself did not know the

Zhou Lei arrived at the kitchen and saw that there was actually a sandwich on the table.

"Hmm? What is this?" Looking at the half-eaten sandwich that was on the plate, he saw that it was newly made.

He picked it up and put it against his nose. He smelled it and an expression of pleasure appeared on Zhou Lei's face. "This smells good!"

"Could it be...? My little sis is acting all bashful? Well, everyone goes through that stage someday..."

He immediately bit into the sandwich, which confirmed his suspicions.

The taste... was not bland. It was alright.

With the Taste stat on Zhou Lei being so high, if the sandwich tasted 'alright' to him, it would translate to 'heaven-defyingly delicious' for a normal person!

Zhou Lei tasted again for the first time in... well, two days.

He felt satisfied and walked back into the computer room, all smiles.

He typed continuously, which was why all of the chapters were on only one doc.u.ment on Word. If he went and made a new one per chapter he finished, it would take about two minutes longer! How long... too long!

Looking at the word count at the bottom, Zhou Lei could not help but be surprised.

"Wow, I feel like I finished 5 more chapters way faster than before. I guess I'm in the groove... Let me continue then!" Zhou Lei's confidence was at its maximum today, and he was also excited at the outcome.

He started to type again.

Tap, tap, tap!

.....

In Zhou Xiang's workplace.

She was only one of the lower-ranked staff despite having worked there for more than a decade.

The reason for this was her incompetence.

There were already several instances of her almost being fired before being let off with a warning.

"I'll give you a second chance today. Don't let this happen again!" She had heard this line multiple times in her life. Right now, she was hearing it again.

At some point, she started becoming numb to the warnings and didn't listen to her boss's lectures anymore as her mind wandered somewhere else.

Such as: "Second chance? How many second chances have I had...?", or "That disease is an Estidy, right? Or whatever it's called...", and even "I need to devise my plan to get my son's Estidy!"

Finally, the boss's lecture ended. She was free to leave his office.

She left promptly.

Zhou Xiang returned to her seat, sighing in the process. Her co-workers saw her and immediately uttered out comforting words.

"It's okay, Miss Zhou." "You can do better next time, senior!" "It's just a beginner's mistake..."

At the start, they all ridiculed her for not being able to do her job properly, but now, they just felt pity for her. Not to mention the fact that she was one of the longest workers in that company, therefore making her a senior there.

The coworker who sat next to her was her closest friend in the company, next to the boss, of course.

"Hey, what did you do this time...?" she said, with "as usual" written across her face.

"Look here, it's this..." Zhou Xiang pointed to one of the papers.

Her coworker grabbed the paper and studied it. After a while, she shook her head. "This again? Haven't I already told you how to do this?"

"Uhh... is that so? I forgot." Zhou Xiang scratched the back of her head innocently.

At this point, her coworkers all facepalmed.

In her mind, however, she secretly thought, "When my Zhou Zhenya becomes an idol, let's see who facepalms!" followed by a "Wait, Zhou Lei can become one, right? An idol?"
