Chapter 3
Unfortunately, Zhou Lei was not in one of those places. He was in his bedroom, where there was no sight of the sunset at all.
There was a window in his bedroom to view outside. It was unfortunate that the Zhou family house consisted of only one floor, and that outside the window, only a brick wall could be seen.
Zhou Lei, as much of a glutton as he is, didn't steal food from the fridge. It was taking all his determination to resist giving in to hunger, though his actions were proving futile. He was sweating profusely, on the verge of rus.h.i.+ng towards the almighty fridge.
But he then remembered System.
Quest: Do not steal food from the fridge
Description: Stop being a glutton, you G.o.dd.a.m.n fatty! Geez Louise, how are you going to become popular at this point?
Reward: 10 upgrade points
These upgrade points were very tempting because Zhou Lei knew exactly what it could be used for.
While exploring System's interface, Zhou Lei also stumbled upon the stats. His stats were very low, even lower than what a Level 0 should have.
The only exception to this was his "Wisdom" stat, which was about 50. System described it to be above average, but not astonis.h.i.+ng. It seemed that Zhou Lei forgot to allocate the points properly and became a specialist.
All of the others were below 10, which System described as trash not even worth mentioning. When Zhou Lei saw this, he subconsciously agreed, even nodding.
"..." System actually wanted Zhou Lei to violently react to his descriptions of him, but who knew that this fat guy would be so self-depreciating?
Disregarding that, even though 10 points seemed like it wasn't much, it was actually quite a lot by Zhou Lei's standards. For him, in RPGs, even if he could only muster up only 1 point for an upgrade, he would already be satisfied with that point. But to think he would receive
He could already think of how many upgrades he would get!
As such, Zhou Lei started drooling not because of the food, but because of the upgrade points. Even his impending hunger was completely gone just by thinking of what he could do with these points.
"If I put them all in appearance... hehehe..."
He thought that by suddenly becoming handsome, he could make all his cla.s.smates baffled by this ma.s.sive change that happened in just one day! He couldn't wait to see the baffled look on their faces... By then he wouldn't be bullied anymore!
.....
In an elementary school not far away from the Zhou family's home, there was Zhou Zhenya. She was seated... in the middle of the cla.s.s, not the corner. Because she was in the center, there were no windows she could lean on for dramatic effect.
It was lunchtime in said elementary school, and Zhou Zhenya had no friends eating with her... because they were all absent for some reason.
In this school, "ma.s.s absentees" happen for some reason. In her group, only Zhou Zhenya was present, thus giving her the image that she looked lonely.
Luckily, this was only grade school, so the students weren't as vile as the ones in high school, where the bullies lie. Bullies still existed inside grade school, of course, one just had to look for them.
After all, it was quite easy to look for bullies, as they usually looked conspicuous. By conspicuous, it meant fat and big.
In Zhou Zhenya's cla.s.s, it was the den of popular boys and girls, all of them more good-looking than her. Her friends were all more beautiful and more handsome than her. But Zhou Zhenya didn't really mind it unless someone pointed it out.
Even though Zhou Zhenya was inferior to them in looks, she was far superior to them in knowledge and wisdom. She was also more hardworking than the rest of them.
Because of this, everyone in the cla.s.s, one way or another, took advantage of Zhou Zhenya's smarts and diligence. Who knew if she had one genuine friend?
This was because of her inferior looks. Everyone, whether they liked it or not, had a subconscious prejudice against ugly people. Zhou Zhenya was not particularly ugly, but the dark circles on her eyes made it seem so.
This made the whole cla.s.s look down on her unintentionally. It's only natural that she was smart. If she wasn't, she would have no redeeming qualities!
As such, Zhou Zhenya was being oppressed without anyone noticing.
.....
Zhou Lei was exhausted. To prevent himself from eating in the fridge, he thought that all he had to do was distract himself.
Turns out that that wasn't enough, as Zhou Lei is constantly reminded of food by the growling of his stomach.
"Ugh... how long do I have to endure this for?"
System said no specific time, so Zhou Lei didn't know how long he should resist going to the fridge. Most likely, the quest would be completed once one of his family members, whether one of his parents or his sister, made it back home.
System then notified him.
"Congratulations for completing the quest. The reward of 100 upgrade points ready to be received."
"Whhuh? A hundred?"
