Shameless Great Marshal

Chapter 2

Then, some moments later, the whole world seemed shook violently, as if the G.o.ds themselves were descending to the mortal realm. In such scenery, the one who observed all of this from the highest position was a robust young general, with sword-like eyebrows and a draconic aura, really a man above all men.

This figure was Bao Qiang. However, the weight of war seemed to press down his shoulders. Yet, he still held his head up proudly, as if being unrivaled under the Heavens. And by his side, a long katana with a dark red scabbard hanged.

Seconds later, a sea of men in dark armor surged in the number of millions. It was a frightening scene and a cold s.h.i.+ver pa.s.sed through the hearts of the positioned divisions.

However, as everyone was filled with fear, Bao Qiang drew his dark blade and pointed to the black sea of men.

" Rejoice, my brothers, because this is the last battle there is to fight! Or shall we fall here together with all behind us or shall we reunite in h.e.l.l with the heads of our enemies! "

Then, everyone's battle intent aroused in a powerful war cry and the two parties clashed deadly. The sound of metal soared as the two sides began to take each other's lives.

As for Bao Qiang, he dashed through the sea of blood like a vulture of h.e.l.l. Anywhere he pa.s.sed, heads were sent flying by a black flash and blood rained from the sky.

Then, in a split second, three shadows suddenly teleported to his side, sending three explosive blows. Peerlessly, Bao deflected two of them, but the third slash caught him in a difficult angle, cutting past his side and sending him flying.

Lading hardly on the ground, Bao observed his companions being killed in the fierce battle and rage fill his heart. However, before he could get back up, a blade pierced through his chest and a harsh voice sounded.

" You minor bugs are nothing but s.h.i.+t before the real Mortal Emperor, so death in the battlefield is already honor and mercy of our Lord... "

Then, everything once more went dark for a long time.

In a cold tent in a corner of the army, a pale youngster screamed as he woke up in a jump. He was soaked in cold sweat. Desperate, he scanned his surroundings and only calmed down after certifying was safe and the presence of the long katana by his side.

Sitting down, Bao Qiang started meditating in a mysterious rhythm. It was a secret technique of breathing his father obligated him to learn as a child used to calm down one's heart and mind.

The name Mortal Emperor perturbed his mind, but Bao had never heard of such a name or read it in any of the few books throughout his life. Still, after some time, he threw the strange dream to the back os his mind.

Such a state of concentration went on for a few

After hanging the long katana on his left, he walked out of the tent into daylight.

Outside, a man awaited him seated on a wooden chair. On his chest, one could see a small insignia of a dragon, indicating the office of Capitan.

" Soldier Bao Qiang? "

Seeing the man, Bao gave a light bow with some displease. He was from one of the n.o.ble General Families of the kingdom and because of his father, he had to bow to such low ranked men. However, he kept his discontentment in his heart.

" At your orders Capitan! "

Observing him, the man left out a breath.

" The General summons you to report about the spying mission. "

Nodding his head, Bao gave another unwilling bow and headed to the central tent.

Inside the huge tent was quite warm and the smell of good meat filled the air. While low soldiers were starving out there with their dry rations, these high b.a.s.t.a.r.ds ate the best one could get in the desolate borders.

However, upon arriving, Bao could only give a full bow and low his head before the big man seated on the highest chair in the room.

" Greetings, General Chao! This lowly subject comes to your presence. "

The giant man gave a smile and got up from the leather chair. He was a 2,5 meters tall one-man tank. Then he slowly walked in Bao's direction.

" Cut the c.r.a.p, little Bao! It seems your father taught you well! Hahaha"

Cupping his hands, Bao Qiang just gave a little smile. This man was a proud son of the Chao Clan, also a great family of generals and his Bao Clan's ally in the royal court.

" Looks like your father sending you to the borders was the right choice! Only here a brilliant young man like you could display his abilities!"

"Now tell me, was it you who killed those three men at the gove's limit?"

Without hesitation, Bao nodded his head in affirmation.

" Very well!"

Saying so, the giant man looked to one of his men. A second later, the man advanced in Bao's direction drawing his sword. However, Bao Qiang's instincts were sharp after the previous battle.

When the man's attack was almost striking, he drew the katana in a flash, sending the man's sword flying. The man still tried to take a step back but was met by a fierce jab on his face and was sent to the ground with a dark blade pointing to his chest.

Seeing the battle, General Chao gave nod in approvement.

" Very well, now I believe you! Sorry for this, it's just that you were always useless before but it seems like such is no more. "

Bao had a heavy gaze, as a red stain surged on his white s.h.i.+rt below the black uniform. His wounds were about burst once more, but his facial expression remained unchanged.

After the demonstration, Bao Qiang began to report the whole mission and how his team was discovered and ambushed, as so as of how he managed to escape death. The only thing he omitted was finding his ancestor's sword inside the small cave.

The information obtained was the presence of two more divisions of the enemy army, as so as the presence of a load of new bows and arrows.

After the report was done, General Chao tossed a small bag to Bao Qiang.

" I heard you were wounded in the mission. This is a medicine refined by one of my clan's main doctors. Take a pill per day and no time you're back to the frontline. "

" Also, by successfully completing the mission and coming back alive, I shall promote you to sub-captain. From now on your in charge of a group of five! Ohhh, how your father would be proud if he knew hahaha!"

Then, after receiving a half-dragon insignia, Bao once more gave a bow. But now the General had some respect in his heart. If he was a malicious person, instead of being rewarded, he would be punished for being the sole survivor of a mission ranked easy.

"Now get yourself ready. Tomorrow you'll be heading to the north frontline together with your subordinates. A battle will be fought for the domination of the Desolate Valley. If you manage to come back victorious, the post of Capitan awaits you. "

Then, Bao gave his farewells and went back to his tent. Upon getting there, he already took one of the pills.

He had to admit, it was high-quality medicine since in half an hour he felt no more pain.

Standing inside his tent, instead of doing to sleep, Bao silently drew his sword. Then for hours, the black blade cut through the air in a disciplined fas.h.i.+on as he executed his family's unique sword art.

His movements were fast, as the sword of his House was turned to absolute speed. Legends said that when trained to perfection, the user seemed to teleport and leave behind multiple after-imagens.

At Bao's current level, he could not be considered in the minor success. However, for a person who always skipped his training to enjoy the nocturne life of the Capital, such display was outstanding.

As so, the biggest silkpants of the Capital was slowly transforming into a great man.
