Chapter 84
After the "food fight" was over, the shrubbery of the Kami fruit was completely bare. Not one purple-blue fruit could be spotted in the leaves. The skeleton-like citizens have also dispersed carrying their respective piles of fruit. They fled back to their houses/dark alleys, warily eyeing the people beside them like they were protecting a pile of treasure.
The only ones left at the site were Tommy and the caravan group. The former was also holding a pile of fruit, but unlike the others, he did not seem to fear stealing, maybe because he was the leader of this place, everyone held some amount of respect towards him. The latter was empty-handed, gobsmacked by the speed at which everyone dispersed.
Old Man Tommy, chewing a Kami fruit, started talking to the outsiders,"Well *munch munch* that's that, I guess." He shrugs his shoulders and walks back to the inn.
"This...are they not worried it's poisonous?" says Conroy.
The leader of the caravan, ——-'s dad, looks at the man with slight dejection and fatigue in his eyes,"Sigh, these people already have one foot in the grave, do you really think they care if it's poisonous or not?"
"..." The group simultaneously shakes their head.
"But what will happen if it really is poisoned?" asks ——-
His dad hesitates,"...We'll just have to wait and see." And with that, the group head back to the inn.
At dinner, the group take a seat at their usual spot and start chatting.
"I'm telling you, a centaur can definitely beat a hydrolysk" I hear someone say.
"No way! Hydrolysks are way stronger." argues another.
A third party joins in with,"Hmm, it depends on what terrain they're fighting in."
I tune that conversation out and start listening to the more important stuff.
"We're ready boss." Says one of the men named Thomas. I think he was the one in charge of supplies.
"Double-checked everything?"
"Yep"
"Then we'll head out tomorrow morning," he says in a satisfied manner. I would be too, i mean, to be able to find all the necessary supplies in this rundown town, and in a day no less! Now that's what you call a capable subordinate.
