Chapter 67
"Have you not complained to king or someone with the power to help?" Someone from our caravan asks.
"We have, multiple times, but they always used the excuse that all available money is being used for the war, even after the battle of Yama City ended."
"That's..." The group looks frustrated.
"Don't worry about it. This town is hopeless. Even if you gave us all the money you owned, we wouldn't be able to do anything with it. There are no able-bodied men living here anymore, we have no way to keep earning money. This is in no way your fault, so please, don't carry this burden with you." The old man realizes what the group was thinking and tries to fix their frame of mind. This old man... is actually very kind-hearted.

With the atmosphere at an all time low, everyone dazedly finishes their meal and head upstairs, towards their rooms. I start switching my consciousness between each member of the caravan to keep track of everyone, just in case anything unexpected happens.
I thought they would go to sleep immediately, but most of the guys were still up, even after an hour. Looking at their restless faces, I can guess what they're worrying about, because I'm also contemplating it:What can I do to help?
On the trip here, I haven't been able to do anything. I can't cook, I can't set up the tent, I can't clean, and I can't help fight monsters. I haven't been able to do anything.
That why, I want to help these people. Even if it's something minuscule, if it can make the townsfolk happy, even if it's just a second, I want to be able to do it.
Seeing that n.o.body intends to go to sleep, I sigh in my head before finding a room with the window open. I detach myself from the man's clothes and ride the wind outside. I got lucky, it's a windy night.
