Chapter 3
Teacher Lina was still on campus, reviewing study materials and papers for her history student's upcoming mid-semester exam.
Teacher Lina hailed from the Greene family, which was once a distinguished n.o.ble family headed by an Earl in the past. It was unknown what the Greene County did, but they suffered misfortune one instance after another.
Finally, the Greene family have declined, losing their land and moved into the capital.
Although, the current head of the Greene family, Lina's father, held onto the rank of Earl through the hereditary system, it has become nothing but an empty t.i.tle without land, power and wealth.
Lina Greene was hardworking and manage to become a history teacher of the Royal Crawford University at a tender age of 24. She continues to work hard in hopes of one day to make her household prosper once more.
"Ah! it's already so late." Lina decided to finish up work for the day and head home.
....
Leon did not have much hope in practicing the [Hegemony of Primal Chaos] but he did not want to give up so easily.
The [Hegemony of Primal Chaos] had a total of 5 stages before one gain full mastery over the technique. In order, each stage requires one to gain; mastery of the 5 elements, s.p.a.ce and time, life and death, destruction and creation, before finally mastery of primal chaos.
Expanding his senses, Leon perceived numerous types of energies in his surroundings. However, Leon only require energy of the 5 basic elements of the world; wood, fire, earth, metal, water. Spirit energy was scarce, but the 5 elements were in abundance.
Leon begun drawing the 5 elements into his body through a simple breathing exercise.
All life is capable of drawing energy into themselves but transforming that energy into their own power is a different matter altogether.
As Leon has only just begun treading the path towards Divine again, the amount of 5 elements he could draw in was limited. However, it was sufficient at this stage in practice.
Following the instructions of the manual, Leon began circulating the 5 elements through his body's meridians in accordance. The human body is said to be similar to the structures of the universe and can be view as a small universe, as a microcosm.
The circulation path in the body is attuned to the way of the universe. Leon grew increasingly familiar with each full cycle and began increasing the circulation speed to refine the 5 elements.
'The next step will decide my fate' Leon thought.
The next step had stumped the powerhouses of the Divine Realm and labelled impossible, the fusion of the five elements.
It wasn't explained how the fusion will take place and only to continue increasing the circulation speed and that was what Leon continued to do.
The circulation speed continues to steadily increase before finally, reaching an unbelievable speed. At this point, sweat had already formed on Leon's forehead. Leon was beginning to lose control of the 5 elements energy in his body.
If he let them run out of his control, he could suffer some severe internal injuries despite the minuscule amount of energy being circulated.
'There's no turning back now. It's either make or break.'
His mental strength was depleting but Leon was determined to succeed. Steeling his resolve, he continue to push his limits.
'For my father!' Leon gritted his teeth but the inevitable happened.
Leon could no longer keep up with his speed of circulation and it started rampaging out of control, inflicting tremendous pain.
Had Leon given up earlier, he would have only suffered some internal injuries, but he did not and kept pus.h.i.+ng himself, reaching a dangerous turning point. If he fails here, the backlash will kill him.
'Dammit! Father! Your son has failed you!' Leon's eyes started swelling up with tears.
Leon's mental strength was depleted, and the energy wrecked havoc in his body, his consciousness started fading.
In his fading consciousness, he started seeing the scene of his father s.h.i.+elding him from the attacks of his enemies and finally dispersing his strength and soul to protect Leon's own soul on his way to reincarnation.
"G.o.ddammit!!!!!!"
Leon roared back to life. The incident was like hot oil being poured into his flickering
Leon drew strength from an unknown source and forcefully brought the rampaging energy back under control with renewed and unprecedented circulation speed with blazing anger.
'Was this the clarity before death?' Leon thought for a split moment but no longer care.
Closing his eyes, Leon was exhausted in body and mind. The sudden burst of strength came briefly as it went.
As he thought that death would soon claim him, the energy circulating in his body has reached a consistency in speed and continued to circulate without his mental control and did not rampage out of control as if it has been tamed.
The 5 elements started fusing with each other before finally formally a totally new energy, a strand of grandmist energy. The strand of grandmist energy continue circulating through his body, swiftly repairing the damages, his body suffered before resting in his glabella.
Leon was just a bit short in circulating speed and the burst was just what he needs to succeed. Under the cleansing and healing prowess of the grandmist energy, Leon felt like he was undergoing a sort of rebirth and that was exactly what was happening.
His body was partially remolded and became slightly stronger, impurities were expelled from his pores and a horrible stench was slowly exuded into the surroundings.
Leon fell back onto the infirmary bed as he sighed in relaxation, dazed before he erupted in laughter stupidly. He finally achieved the impossible.
'This [Hegemony of Primal Chaos] technique really test one's willpower to the limit.' Leon shook his head with a grin.
But it is better this way. The path to everlasting was supposed to be difficult to begin with. The very practice is to go against the heaven's will.
Screech~
The door to the infirmary was opened as light shone into the room through the darkness randomly before resting on Leon's location.
"Hey you! Campus teaching hours are long over! What are you still doing here!?" A security guard started questioning Leon.
"Ah…. My apologies, I'll leave now."
Seeing the sweat and impurity covered Leon and the horrible stench exuding from him, the security guard's face quickly turns pale.
"Oh my G.o.d! What is that smell? Quickly get lost!" The security guard shooed.
Leon did not mind the guard's aggressive behavior and scurried off.
Grrr~~
Exiting the campus, Leon's stomach started rumbling, which makes sense. He had not eaten for the whole day.
Leon was..h.i.t with a sense of nostalgia.
When one reaches the Divine state, food becomes a luxury and not a necessity.
Reaching the Divine state allows one to shed their mortal body and construct a spirit body, becoming self-sufficient through the spirit body's ability of photosynthesis. As long as the world is not devoid of energy, hunger will become a foreign word to Divine state pract.i.tioners.
Smelling a pleasant scent drifting in the air. Leon followed its trail, leading him to a small fried chicken stand.
"Boss, how much for 5 chicken pieces?"
"It'll be 10 Craws."
Craws, the currency of the Crawford Kingdom.
Searching his pockets, Leon was able to fish out 10 Craw coins exactly and paid the boss.
Smelling the fried chicken, Leon almost forgot how good it was to eat. However, the taste is not comparable to the spirit-enriched food of the Divine Realm, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
…..
"Hey big brother, that lady is very pretty. Maybe we should… you know?" A young thug said lasciviously while staring at a beautiful lady walking home alone in the night.
Looking at where the younger thug pointed, the Big brother thug's eyes lit up. Licking his lips, Big brother thug made his way over.
.....
Lina was making her way home through a rather remote road. Had it have been any other day; Lina would not choose such a road home even if it was a shortcut. Lina regretted not keep track of time while she was still working in the office.
Just when her day couldn't get any worse, a voice called out to her.
"Hey beautiful, it's a good night today. Why don't come join us for a good time?" Big brother thug said lewdly, while checking her out.
"N-no thank you. I have to go home."
Lina replied nervously, while trying to make her way around the big thug in a hurry but her path was blocked by two other thugs.
Fear started gripping her heart. She would be fearless in front of her students, but when she's in front of big muscular thugs, she can only cower.
"Hahaha don't reject us, while we are still saying it nicely. We'll promise to make you feel good."
Lina's hands were swiftly grabbed as the three thugs dragged her into a remote alleyway from the main road.
"N-no, please let me go!" Lina cried
The thugs covered her mouth to prevent her from making further noise and only m.u.f.fled sounds could be heard.

.....
coincidentally, Leon was heading home to his adopted parent's house in the same direction as he was enjoying his fried chicken when he heard m.u.f.fled cries coming from the alleyway up ahead.
'Whatever, it's none of my business.' Leon thought.
Leon was has not familiarized himself with the world yet and thought it was best to be low-key and avoid bringing trouble to himself. At least, not until he possesses the strength to protect himself.
He does not know if there's any pract.i.tioners on the path of everlasting in this world or how powerful the strongest person is, but it is definitely not him. Making initial progress in the [Hegemony of Primal Chaos], with only one single strand of grandmist, Leon only possess the strength equivalent to a body tempering pract.i.tioner of the 1st layer.
He must treasure his life even if it means, going against his principle to ignore a person in need of help. After all, his life is no longer just his own, but also his father's, whom died to grant him a new lease on life. As long as he is still breathing, his father will continue to live on inside his heart.
Leon hardened his resolve and decided to walk off. Unfortunately, after taking one step, he froze as a string of words started repeating itself in his head.
The [Heart of Saint] mantra that his father once forced him to recite to cultivate his character when he was still going through his despotic and hedonistic period in his previous life.
Recalling the day to day repet.i.tion of reciting the [Heart of Saint] mantra made him s.h.i.+vered. It had develop a sort of trauma and he would repulse any mantra he sees.
"Sigh…. I didn't choose the good guy life, but it chose me."
Leon turned around and walked towards the alleyway.
