My Obsession

Chapter 5

Meanwhile, the heiress to the Tong Family had come to pay a visit to Grandfather Yang. She felt like she should have brought some gifts, but Yang Tian-Xu didn't drop by any stores; also he told her that it wasn't necessary for gifts. Still, Tong Yue-Yan felt ashamed to come empty-handed.

The moment the maids told Grandfather Yang that his grandson had finally arrived, Grandfather Yang most certainly did not mind at all. He was just happy to see his grandson, Yang Tian-Xu, "Tian-Xu! My boy! You finally came to see this old man!" The 87-year-old man wore a male hanfu. A hanfu is an old traditional Chinese outfit. He genuinely likes the traditional styles, and it indeed suited him because it makes him feel comfortable.

"Ye-ye!" He called his grandfather, Ye-Ye. It simply means grandfather, and it was one of the most loving ways for a grandson to call his grandfather. Grandfather Yang came over, and Yang Tian-Xu got pulled into his grandfather's embrace. "You were supposed to be a filial child, how come it takes you over three weeks to come to visit this old body of mine?"

"Ye-Ye, you might be old, but you are still very healthy! I was busy with work, but I am here now, aren't I?"

"Work?" he lifted his eyebrows up and looked over to Tong Yue-Yan. "She looks like she could be much work!" Grandfather Yang laughed and smiled at the girl. Making her face glowing red. Yang Tian-Xu immediately explains and introduce her, "This is Miss Tong Yue-Yan, she is the daughter of Mayor Tong from City A, she just came to City Y, so I took her out to show her around the city as a host."

"h.e.l.lo, Elder-Mr Yang." She had politely said as she lowers her head to bow to him.

"Oh please, call me Grandfather Yang! You don't need to be too polite, and this is a new era! It's great to see you kids respect your elders, but that made me feel like a thousand years older!"

"Grandfather Yang, I am sorry I had not borne you any gifts today, for sure tomorrow I shall bear you some gifts as an apology."

"Nonsense, child! Your aunt also came today bearing plenty of gifts already! I would feel ashamed to have received any more."

Tong Yue-Yan was happy to hear that her aunt had brought some gifts to Grandfather Yang. She thought to herself, "Yes! Thank you, auntie, I won't forget to thank you later!"

"Come, come, let's all sit at the dining table, and have dinner. Today's menu is your favourite dishes Tian-Xu! I had the chefs made them for you!" Grandfather Yang was a cheerful and jolly old man. He loves to have guests over at his house, which had made Tong Yue-Yan less nervous.

They followed Grandfather Yang to the dining room, and they would sit down at their respected seating. The Table was a roundtable, Tong Yue-Yan would sit next to her aunt, on the left side. Yang Tian-Xu's mother would have him sit next to Tong Yue-Yan, and she would sit next to him on his left hand, then her husband, Yang Fei-Hung. Then again to the left would be Grandfather Yang, it is a roundtable the middle has been undetermined from each person's point of view, but Grandfather Yang would undoubtedly be at the centre, in the Head-of-the-house seat.

The dishes would be served to them by the maids like they are in like a five-star Chinese restaurant. At the top of each seating area are public chopsticks and spoons. Used so that they could pick their food into their plates. The table has a rotating centre in which the side dishes positioned.

Tong Yue-Yan felt like a new bride that just married into the Yang Family; she couldn't help but smiled. She would use her public chopstick to take some food for Grandfather Yang. The man was so happy and delighted, and he too felt that this Miss Tong was a delightful girl. He would be more than glad to have her as his grand-daughter-in-law.

Mrs Yang had pretty much been saying Grandfather Yang kind words about Tong Yue-Yan, all while they waited for the two of them to arrive. Grandfather Yang had a perfect impression about Tong Yue-Yan, not only was she pretty, she was very knowledgeable about the Yang Family's history. As a man who's so proud of his family heritage, he felt delighted to hear Tong Yue-Yan talk about how much she admired the Yang Family.

Just like that Tong Yue-Yan had bonded into the Yang Family. Tong Yue-Yan had a fantastic talent to make other adores her. However, Yang Tian-Xu had remained unaffected by this. His heart and mind were still wandering off to a random girl he had never known anything! Yang Tian-Xu thought it would be impossible to tell his family that he had fallen in love at first sight, and this girl was undoubtedly not Tong Yue-Yan.

Yang Tian-Xu doesn't think he could ever tell his families that he had fallen for some random girl. Yang Tian-Xu remains quiet for quite a while. Until his grandfather jokily asked him, "If only I could see you married and have my great-grandchildren, I would be happy to pa.s.s then."

"Ye-Ye! You can't say something like that, Ye-Ye will live a very long life, even long enough to see your Great-Great Grandchildren."

"Oh, I could only wish so." Grandfather Yang hasn't seen his grandson in a while, so naturally, he would pull him over into the garden to enjoy the night scenery at Tian-Bo-Fu. It was just the two of them, and Grandfather Yang straightforwardly asked, "You seems absent-minded, and uninterested in Miss Tong. Is there someone else you might have liked?"

Yang Tian-Xu was surprised at how sharp Grandfather Yang was, his parents couldn't even tell that he had no interest in Tong Yue-Yan. However,

"My good grandson, listen to Ye-Ye's suggestion. Miss Tong Yue-Yan may seem to be the most compatible woman for you. However, if you have someone else you love deeply, don't you be afraid to bring her home for Ye-Ye. Ye-Ye gave you his full support, no matter whom you have fallen for."

Yang Tian-Xu and his grandfather had a very close relations.h.i.+p. He was always doted on by his grandfather. After hearing his grandfather's words, he felt like he could tell his grandfather everything. Yang Tian-Xu was about to open his mouth when they were interrupted by Yang Tian-Xu's mother. Ms Yang called out to them, "Tian-Xu! It is getting very late; you should take Ms Tong and Yue-Yan home."

"Yes, mother." He replied and turned to his grandfather to face him. "Ye-ye, don't you worry, Ye-Ye. When I met the girl of my dream; I definitely would bring her to meet you!" he gave a slight head bow to his grandfather and left.

Yang Tian-Xu looked at the time; 9:30 PM was the current time. As he, Yang Tian-Xu tried to remain quiet the entire trip towards the Tong Family villa. He was driving, and Tong Yue-yan and his aunt wouldn't want to disturb him, of course, they would say beautiful things about Grandfather Yang.

Yang Tian-Xu would merely nod his head, and occasionally he would thank them for their kind words. Tong Yue-Yan felt that today wasn't long enough, but to Yang Tian-Xu today had been such a long day. After all, Yang Tian-Xu had taken them back to the Tong villa. Yang Tian-Xu had finally made it home. His parent was to stay with Grandfather Yang for the weekend, so Yang Tian-Xu had the Yang Family Estate to himself, by the time he had reached home it was already 11:05 PM.

The western architecture of the Yang Family manor in the city was completely different than Tian-Bo-Fu. Instead of being traditional and grand, it is just a fancy manor on top of a hill. They have about two live-in maids that worked for them 24/7 while some part-timers come in and out from the back door to help out with cleaning and gardening. However, at night-time, the manor becomes a big empty house.

After a long day, Yang Tian-Xu headed for a quick shower to freshen up. Afterwards, he got out of his private washroom, and he was drying his hair with a towel around his neck. As he sat down at his desk, he opens his laptop and checks his emails. a.s.sistant Tseng had sent him a detailed report about each student that was interview today. He even sent attached doc.u.ments to his most recommended students. Of course, there was w.a.n.g Yi-An's name on his most recommended student lists.

It was a shame that there were no photos of them, however. Unlike other companies, at Yang Corps, they do not need the applicator to attach their photo. Yang Corps isn't about looking good, but talents. They need a capable employee, not a pretty ornament. However, that didn't mean that they can't or would it discourage those who want to attach a portrait to send in with their application. Some applicant had photos some didn't. The images did not appeal to Yang Tian-Xu, he first took a look at the recommended ones by his a.s.sistant instead of reading through the entire reports. He messaged his a.s.sistant on his smartphone and said, "Okay, send them an official letter."

It might be late, but his a.s.sistant would always be alert, as soon as he received the message. He messages back, "Yes, sir!" Then a.s.sistant Tseng would jump out of his bed, he had accidentally woken his wife that was asleep beside him, and she would ask him.

"What's wrong?" she was still half-awake. Tseng Kuan-Yin patted her back and told her, "Nothing, it's work. Just go back to sleep, babe." after she heard his reply, she would return to her sleep as he had asked.

Then he would go over to his desk and open up his laptop, and with his already drafted emails, he immediately clicks on the send b.u.t.ton and sent them out, he was fast and efficient. Then he sent out another message to President Yang. "Okay boss! All sent!"

Yang Tian-Xu would reply, "Okay. Have a good rest."

"You too boss!"

Yang Tian-Xu ended his message chat with his a.s.sistant, and he drops his entire body down on the bed. It was already late, his body may be tired, but his mind was still awake. He thought, "If only my family would like you too," with those thoughts he slowly fell asleep.

w.a.n.g Yi-An wakes up from the alarm that went off at 6:00 AM sharp. She got out of bed; hit the shower while she brushes her teeth in the hot shower, she got ready fast within 15 minutes.

Her hair was still wet, but she quickly dries it with a towel. Regardless of her damp hair, she would get out of the house. Generally, if she were to go to school, she would have grabbed two bags of the prepared food from last night into her lunch bag, but because it was a Sat.u.r.day. She has no school and only work. Her workplace was a restaurant that provides her food; she does not need to pack a lunch. It was 6:20 AM her mother had already left the house at 5:30 AM work.

w.a.n.g Yi-An's mother work at a walk-in clinic as a receptionist. The clinic opens every day, and she would have to open the clinic every day at 6:00 AM. The clinic was only about 15-minute ride from their home.

w.a.n.g Yi-An has worked at 7:30 AM. It's not like they needed to have a car, paying for insurances every month get quite expensive, and gas price goes up regularly. It is better not to own a car and take the bus instead. Buses run 24/7 in City Y; it's cheap and convenient. There are bus-stops at every corner.

w.a.n.g Yi-An does not need a car; however, she does have a bike. Her part-time job was at a restaurant nearby so she would often ride her bike to work. w.a.n.g Yi-An and her mother have to save as much money as possible. They had recently purchased their little home. They need to pay for mortgages and house bills. w.a.n.g Yi-An does not want to be a burden on her mother anymore. She worked hard for her allowance since she was old enough to wash the dishes.

The restaurant w.a.n.g Yi-An worked at was called, "Happiness" and her mother used to work at this restaurant as a dishwasher when she still a fetus. Now that w.a.n.g Yi-An is a lot older and can help out; her mother stopped working at the restaurant during the night, and only focus her job at the clinic. w.a.n.g Yi-An often comes here to work during her summer vacations since she was young.

w.a.n.g Yi-An and her relations.h.i.+p with the owner was very close. She was like a second mother to w.a.n.g Yi-An. The owner was a widower, and have a son who is five years older than her. He used to watch over her and play with her a lot when she was younger. However, when children grew older, that would change, and w.a.n.g Yi-An and her son treated each other like family.

The owner, Madam Fung always wanted a daughter like w.a.n.g Yi-An. She hoped that her son would marry w.a.n.g Yi-An in the future, but who could have thought that their relations.h.i.+p was nothing more than a brother-sister feeling.

w.a.n.g Yi-An rode her bike and parked in her usual spot; she bent down to lock it in place. At the back of her head, she could feel a hand ruffling her head. "Hey!" she shouted, "stop that!" as she got up and shooed the man away. The name is Fung Qi-Wei.

Fung Qi-Wei is an average looking guy, he was like an older brother to w.a.n.g Yi-An and loves ruffling her hair. "You came early today." He said as he smiled at her.

"Why should I have come later?" she ridiculed him.

He laughed, "Okay, okay, thank you for coming so early! I need your help in the kitchen today!"

She replied "Okay!" to him happily like a little girl, and they would walk into the restaurant together, Fung Qi-Wei would place his hands on her shoulder and ruffled her hair again like she was a little girl. Of course, she would be mad and tried to fix her hair as they got in.

The restaurant was almost like a 24/7 restaurant. They only closed for about two hours from 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM. The owners are Madam Fung and her son, Fung Qi-Wei. They would often work together at the same time, but of course, they had hired a lot of other people as well. w.a.n.g Yi-An had been working for them for so long. They trusted her and gave her the manager position and worked at the cas.h.i.+er, but she only managed on weekends.

Happiness Restaurant is a bustling restaurant on the weekend as less and fewer people want to cook on their days off. Regularly on the weekend the mother and son would take a day off and leave everything to w.a.n.g Yi-An. When the weather is more beautiful, they will get busier, and so they would need to help out as well. The weather was so lovely outside, who would want to stay cooped up inside? Spring was an excellent day for business to promote on the weekend.

After a long day of work, w.a.n.g Yi-An had worked hard the entire day, and the time was 10:00 PM. On the weekends she would always get off this late, while on weekdays she would leave earlier, depending on her school work. Madam Fung sometimes felt like the girl had worked too hard, Madam Fung would pay her under-the-table and gave her cash every day, her tips would be shared for like the rest of the staff once a week. w.a.n.g Yi-An received her daily pay, and with a smile, she went back home.

w.a.n.g Yi-An was busy the entire day at her job, what about Yang Tian-Xu? Yang Tian-Xu has the weekends off, and he didn't work like w.a.n.g Yi-An did who had to work while in school. He has only one job, a simple 9'til 5 job as the President of Yang Corps. There is a tremendous difference between the two.
