In Retirement Playing Games

Chapter 11

Beelzebub got a bit closer, wrapping his arm around Jose while pointing towards the Harrison and Luke, breathing into Jose's ear Beelzebub got a whole lot closer. "So, what do you think you're going to do to repay me for my troubles? After all, you did ruin our dungeon experience."

Granted, it's quite obvious that the Noob Killers guild wouldn't have lasted any longer even if they didn't interfere, they would have lost once the Spider Queen's health dropped below 20%, didn't matter whether or not they had more players with them or not.

Jose chuckled slightly before grabbing hold of the Noob Killers leader's arm and took it off his shoulder. He turned his head to face him eye to eye, a sense of danger overwhelmed Nook Killers leader immediately, a dark figure appeared behind Jose. It didn't have any particular form, but its dark beady eyes stared straight at Noob Killers leader.

"You know, you really should choose your opponent wisely, some of them may be far stronger than you think," Jose obviously used his newly obtained skill, True Intimidation. Fortunately, although possessing an air of arrogance, Beelzebub doesn't seem to be all that brave in the real world.

The Noob Killers leader wasn't able to stop shaking, he felt as though his body was already standing on the blade's edge. His forehead was covered in cold sweats, a status effect appeared in the top of his screen. It was an icon symbolising fear and paralysis.

"What the h.e.l.l did you do?" Noob Killers leader asked fearfully, he wasn't able to step back, rather, he wasn't able to move at all. He even struggled to talk casually, his mouth opening and shutting, no words continued to come out as his breathing turned more erratic.

A couple of the players around them readied their weapons, they swiftly got into a formation, a couple of tanks at the forefront while the rest of the cla.s.ses stayed behind. Noob Killers leader raised his hand, it shook in the air from his fear. "Wait, this doesn't cla.s.s as an attack, you all know the consequences if we were the ones to start a fight in the Town of Beginnings right now."

"Tsk, better make sure you don't leave the protection of the town," One of the members of Noob Killers said angrily before retreating. Towns and cities both have a protection function, inside of them all players would be protected by the NPC guards. A type of NPC that possesses the strength to instant-kill any players in the beginnings of the game.

They were greatly feared by just about every player, not to mention the fact that killing an NPC guard doesn't give any benefits. It won't matter how many NPC guards one kills, the numbers of loot will always be zero, doesn't matter on the luck.

The rest of Noob Killers left the group in annoyance, they constantly looked back towards the group and gave them death stares. Eventually, the Noob Killers guild was out of sight, turning around a couple of corners to go to a different exit of the town. Since they weren't able to beat the dungeon now, they needed to grind and get stronger.

"Well, seems they weren't too happy about us interfering with their raid," Jose remarked with a slight nod. "Alright, so, now to start planning how to defeat the boss." Jose clapped his hands together, swiftly gaining everyone's attention.

He took a look around to make sure no one was listening, he didn't want their plans to be stolen. "So, from what we know, once the Spider Queen's health drops below 50% it changes its form and gets a nice power boost. Then, once the Spider Queen's health drops below 20%, it changes form once more, getting stronger as well

"I have an idea," Maddy said while raising a finger, getting everyone's attention. "From all the information we have so far, it could be said that only the leftover spider pods will hatch once its health drops below 20%, now with a power boost as well. So, I would suggest that we first clear out the spider pods before moving onto the Spider Queen, that way, they won't become a problem later on."

"While that may be a good idea, you have to realise that there are hundreds of spider pods, there's no way we'll be able to kill them all, it'll take us hours," Adam explained with a slight complaint towards the plan. "Not only that, the Spider Queen certainly won't allow us to just slaughter its children, it would a.s.sist in keeping them alive to allow for growth. We'll need someone to distract it."

"Well, I would say we currently have the game's fastest and most agile player, not the mention the most experienced in life or death situations," Jose said while glancing at Adam, a few seconds at a time.

Adam eventually got the message and sighed; although it usually wasn't the a.s.sa.s.sin's job to distract a monster, they were technically the most capable of doing it. While Tanks specialised in defence and vitality, a.s.sa.s.sins focused their attention on strength agility, two very different builds.

However, this also made it obvious which was more suitable for that position. Tanks could defend against attacks; however, a.s.sa.s.sins could easily train the monsters, even boss mobs if they were skilled enough. And in Jose's eyes, Adam was skilled enough.

"Wait, wait, wait, are you all forgetting the moment the Spider Queen smacked me into tomorrow," Adam suddenly said as the memory flashed in his mind. It brought a cold s.h.i.+ver upon his body, remembering the sudden appearance of the Spider Queen's furry leg slas.h.i.+ng across his body with great force.

"Indeed; however, the Spider Queen only managed to smack you into tomorrow once it went into its second form," Jose explained with his hand raised into the air. "And, if I'm not mistaken, by the time it reaches its second form, the boost it has to both its strength and agility is tenfold at the minimum."

Walking a couple of steps to come face to face with Adam, Jose lifted his hand and placed it on his shoulder. "So, with this information do you believe you have the capabilities to distract the Spider Queen while we flush out its pods?"

Adam sighed before taking Jose's hand off his shoulder, his eyes opened, he stared Jose directly in the eyes with a stern expression. "Well, I certainly wouldn't be able to call myself the game's best a.s.sa.s.sin if I didn't have the capabilities, now would I?"

"That's the Adam I know," Jose said before slapped Adam on the back. "Now, we'll have to create a unique formation that'll be able to swiftly deal with the spider pods. Not only that, but we'll also need to get ourselves to a higher level. The higher the level and the stronger we are, the higher chance there is of us defeating the dungeon."

"Or, I have another idea," Hayley said abruptly with a mysterious grin. "How about we follow a similar plan to the last one; we'll wait till the Noob Killers guild attempts to go at it again, then, through the use of their members they'll clear out the spiders for us, not to mention weaken the Spider Queen while they're at it. Then, once the Spider Queen's health drops below 30% we retreat far back and allow it to finish the job."

"What if they happen to be able to beat the boss in its final stages?" Adam asked with a raised eyebrow. Harrison and Luke both just stood on the sidelines silent, listening in on the conversation so that they understood what their role would be in the future mission.

"Don't worry, I don't think they'll be able to last all that long. After all, a few of the Spider Queen's Guardians are bound to make it past Noob Killers' defensive line and kill off the back row of players. We'll make sure there's enough for that to work," Jose answered with a cold glint in his eyes. "Then, with the back-row support gone, their vanguard is set up for failure."

"Alright then, now that the plans all set suppose we should go and gain some more levels," Jose said cheerfully, one hand on his hip while the other held onto the staff. "That way, should our plan slightly fail we should be able to salvage all the damage that's already been done to some of the players and finish the job."

The group nodded, although they didn't sound out their agreement it was the best and most logical plan for success as of now. So, instead of wasting time and trying to create the perfect plan with 0% chance of failure, they would rather up their levels to increase the chance of success.

They walked through the Town of Beginnings, there was still quite a few players still in one of the highest difficulty towns, however, most of them had just joined and were trying their luck. It wasn't common to come across and player that's been in the town since yesterday.

The party walked to the edge of the city, they were currently standing by the Eastern wall gate, one of the cardinals exits most commonly used by players. Beyond that, in a straight line was the dungeon. They weren't planning on going to the dungeon, but rather, it was because there were stronger monsters frequently seen around the dungeon.

It was a game mechanic to allow for the players to struggle in finding the dungeon as well as to provide the players with a method of finding dungeons. Granted, it has been recorded in the past that some dungeons have almost no monsters guarding the entrance, granted, that was a rare case but still something to keep in mind.

As for the reason why they didn't come across such troubles when they went to the dungeon, it was a pretty obvious reason, the Noob Killers guild already cleared out the area to allow for its members to take a quick rest. Granted, just a minute walk away from their clearing and you'll once again come across the large bundles of strong monsters.

Jose took a step out but swiftly retracted his foot back into the town, at arrow landed on the spot where his foot was previously. Jose's eyes with widened with surprise before they sharped and darted around the surroundings. It was only a few seconds out before the ground was covered in overgrowth, just about anyone could hide in the bushes or behind trees, even Harrison and Luke despite their large bodies.

[Number 1 G.o.ddess has initiated the attack, allowing player and comrades to responded with force]

"Tsk, seems you've got some good reflexes," A feminine voice said coldly. The bushes rustled and dozens of players stepped out, there were 5 Tanks, 6 Swordsmen, 3 a.s.sa.s.sins, 4 Mages, and 7 Archers. The one that talked through the overgrowth was a female sniper at the back.

She looked at the group coldly. "Unfortunately, it seems you've p.i.s.sed off my boss, so although you do look quite handsome, I'm going to have to kill you. Well, hopefully, you can forgive me, orders are orders."
