Chapter 27
What confronted him was by no means a welcome discovery. His palms were still fresh with blood, though the bleeding had stopped some time in the not too distant past.
The reason why he was displeased with these findings, and even somewhat terrified by what he saw, was not because he was scared of blood or anything like that.
If Hua Yan were really someone that was afraid of bodily wounds, he would never have opted to do a labour job for around 16 hours a day in a field of employment where it wouldn't be rare for body parts, especially hands, to get injured. Hua Yan was quite used to injuring himself.
A few cuts and grazes, and even fractured bones perhaps, were not things that were new to him. He could take all of this without blinking. Consequently, he was rather indifferent towards wounds and whatnot.

What made him panic this time though, was not the wounds themselves, but what the wounds signified. Their implications were so frighteningly terrifying that they had nearly given Hua Yan a literal heart attack.
It wasn't a dream like he had initially thought it was! It wasn't an illusion like he so desperately wished for it to be!
He never thought a day like this would come where he would feel bad because he hadn't been deceived. He wanted all of this to be fake. He wanted this to be nothing more than a sick joke that he would never have to think about again!
He was actually only a few breaths away from stabbing the very person who he lived to protect…
He had almost committed his life's greatest mistake, and he was totally powerless to do anything about it.
Even as it all unfolded before his eyes, he was nothing more than a bystander in his own body! He couldn't do a thing. He was absolutely useless…
As his depressing thoughts began to sink in and consume him, Frenzy had awoken.
Frenzy seemed to be doing something that Hua Yan couldn't quite put a finger on. It was tempering with his thoughts and memories, altering his very subconscious itself.
Of course, it didn't mess with
If it were just one or two of these incidents that were altered, perhaps no visible change would have taken place in Hua Yan's conscience. But since Frenzy was taking quant.i.tative to a whole new level, there were bound to be qualitative changes in Hua Yan as well.
With time, the flames that lit up Hua Yan's madness grew brighter, completely engulfing his self-attacking, despondent thoughts in their wake. At the peak of their intensity, Hua Yan was even influenced to throw his arms into the air and laugh.
"Jahajahajahajahajahajahajaha!"
As Hua Yan's crazy cackling swept through Courtyard 37 of Hua Ding Manor, the people that were pa.s.sing by began to give him strange glances. Seeing his appearance, the wounds on his hands and the ruffled clothing which he sported, they began to speculate that he was a youth who was down on his luck and slowly driven onto a path of lunacy.
They weren't completely wrong. Hua Yan was someone that wasn't at his best currently. And he had also started to turn a little insane.
What separated him from the other lunatics though was the fact that he was not someone that would stay in this condition for long. If he was labelled as a hysterical fool, then so be it. He would use that to his advantage and attempt to gain all the desirable things that he did not have the ambition to claim back when his original body was still alive.
He would try his best to not have any regrets in this new life and accomplish what he couldn't in his last with this current body.
Thinking up until this point, Hua Yan began to list some of the important things that he needed to consider for his future to be one that could make him absolutely satisfied.
The ashes were something that he could not ignore. His sister's life depended on his willingness to find them, so he would make searching for them his prime concern.
Secondly, he was very unsure of his current situation. He hadn't been conscious for long in this new body. Frenzy had continuously restricted his mental faculties, causing him to be unable to make heads or tails of anything.
He was yet to find the date, yet alone the ident.i.ty of the corpse that he resided in. He could only a.s.sume that the ident.i.ty of the original of the body was out-of-the-ordinary, since it had something to do with a being as powerful as the Ashura.
Furthermore, he really needed to find a way to cultivate. Without power, he would only be used again.
In the past, he only had to worry about being stepped on by the Hua Clan and the other local bullies. Now, there was something thousands of times more terrifying living inside his own body, and he had no power to fight against it.
Frenzy could take his sister's life at any time. This was something that Hua Yan could not ignore. Even if Frenzy worked in his benefit, which Hua Yan really doubted, he would still be unwilling to take the risk. Hua Yin's life was too important to gamble.
He couldn't confront Frenzy now, but things would be different if he got stronger.
He needed to enter the Continuous Ballooning Stage and slowly work his way to the top. Though he doubted that even if he became the strongest person in Gin Town, he still wouldn't be qualified to look Frenzy in the eye.
What he needed was a power that was beyond all that he knew. Up until now, he lacked the drive to go after such a thing.
Now that he had gotten his motivation, however, the world had better prepare itself for the twists and turns that were scheduled to come! Hua Yan was on his way!
