"Who would have thought that in just 2 months, lil sis’ Chilling Qi would have become so powerful." Xiao Yun slightly frowned. Luckily, he had returned in time – if he were 10 days to half a month late, things would have been much worse. Now, Xiao Ling’Er’s Chilling Qi couldn’t be suppressed by merely fire-type medicines anymore.
The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow marvelled, "Your little sister’s body’s const.i.tution is quite special, although you’re not too shabby either since you can absorb this Chilling Qi. Who would have thought that in such a c.r.a.ppy place, your brother and sister would both have such special const.i.tutions? How strange!"
"How is my sister’s const.i.tution special?" Xiao Yun asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Her const.i.tution’s very strange – it’s a const.i.tution of extreme darkness and extreme coldness, and such a const.i.tution is one in a million," the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow replied.
Xiao Yun frowned as he asked, "One in a million const.i.tution? Is that good or bad?"
The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow said in a serious tone, "If it can be controlled, it would naturally be good. With some guidance, she could become a sovereign who could look down on the Nine Heavens. If it cannot be controlled and she can’t use this Chilling Qi, it’ll corrode her from the insides, and no one will be able to save her. Even if it’s you, it would be incredibly difficult for you to extract the Chilling Qi for her in future."
"It’s that serious?" A look of worry appeared in Xiao Yun’s eyes. The Chilling Qi within his little sister’s body was indeed becoming stronger and stronger at almost an exponential rate. Unless his Martial Spirit grew at the same rate, it would be difficult for him to keep the Chilling Qi under control. Moreover, in future, it would be difficult for him to go away for extended periods of time – who knew when Xiao Ling’Er’s Chilling Qi would explode out, freeze her meridians, and end her life. Xiao Yun felt quite solemn.
"Do you have any problems to solve this?" Xiao Yun asked the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow.
The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow seemed incredibly profound and knowledgeable as it replied, "It’s actually quite simple. If you can find a suitable technique for your little sister to train in, it can change the situation. Heheh, her achievements might be no less than yours in future."
Xiao Yun’s expression eased as he asked, "A suitable technique? What sort of technique?"
When he heard there was hope for his little sister, he became incredibly excited.
"It needs to be a top-tier, cold-type technique," the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow said. "Normal techniques won’t be able to control this Chilling Qi, and won’t be able to change anything."
"Then do you have any techniques like that?" Xiao Yun hurriedly asked.
"No," the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow replied.
"What’s the point of saying all that if you don’t have one?" Xiao Yun felt quite speechless. He had thought the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow would have something.
The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow retorted, "I, the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow, am a fire-type divine beast, so naturally, I wouldn’t train in any cold-type techniques. Notwithstanding that, you can still go and find some! There are super sects in the Heavenly Capital Domain that specialise in Chilling Qi techniques; I’m sure you’ll be able to find suitable techniques for your little sister there."
"I don’t even know when I’ll be able to go to the Heavenly Capital Domain, and I don’t know if she’ll be able to survive until then," Xiao Yun sighed. The Heavenly Capital Domain was too far from the Moonwind Kingdom as it was millions of miles away, and it contained countless dangerous regions between.
"Then find a technique in this c.r.a.ppy little place," the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow calmly replied.
"Looks like that’s my only option," Xiao Yun sighed as he continued to extract the Chilling Qi for his little sister.
This Chilling Qi was extremely cold, and seemed as if it could freeze the heavens and the earth. If Fang Hao was present, even he would be greatly shocked.
This was because the Chilling Qi that Fang Hao’s Martial Spirit gave off couldn’t even be compared to the Chilling Qi coming from Xiao Ling’Er’s body. As Xiao Yun’s Martial Spirit continued to extract the Chilling Qi, a new jade-green sub-branch appeared on the Martial Spirit. Chilling Qi and fog surrounded it. Evidently, it had been created through the absorption of the Chilling Qi.
Now, the Martial Spirit had 3 sub-branches.
When Xiao Yun arrived, Xiao Ling’Er had lost consciousness, and now that the Chilling Qi was greatly reduced, the young girl gradually awoke.
"Big bro, you’re back." The girl blinked, her eyes hazy as tears rolled out of her
"Mm." Xiao Yun nodded. He felt an ache in his heart when he saw how weak and frail his litter sister looked.
"Big bro, Ling’Er thought that you left her behind." Xiao Ling’Er tried to get up as she blinked and sprang towards the youth. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and refused to let go as she sobbed. Xiao Yun felt a sadness within his heart at how pitiful she looked.
"Silly little sis, how could I leave you behind?" Xiao Yun’s heart twinged with pain and he felt incredibly sorrowful. He could only imagine just how lonely she had been in the 2 months that he had been gone.
"Wuu, big brother, please don’t leave Ling’Er behind anymore." Xiao Ling’Er tightly held on to Xiao Yun, her eyes glimmering as tears rolled out of them, as if the youth would leave her, leaving her with no support.
"Don’t worry, Ling’Er, big bro won’t leave you in future." Xiao Yun slowly wiped the girl’s tears as he deeply breathed in and said, "Don’t worry, big brother will find a way to get rid of this evil Chilling Qi so you can grow up happily."
"Mm." Xiao Ling’Er nodded, seeming extremely lovable and cute.
During these 3 months, her Chilling Qi had acted up 3 times. The first 2 times, she had suppressed the Chilling Qi using the fire-type medicines, but she still suffered greatly. This time, she directly fainted.
The feelings of loneliness and helplessness firmly imprinted themselves on the soul of this 15-year-old girl; it made her never want to separate from Xiao Yun again.
"Here, have a look at the present big bro brought back for you." Xiao Yun let go of the girl as he smiled.
"What present?" Xiao Ling’Er blinked, an expression of curiosity on her face.
At this moment, the door opened and Huan’Er walked in with a pair of Violet Foxes in her arms. The Violet Foxes were extremely cute, and their eyes sparkled like precious stones. Their eyes were resplendent and they seemed incredibly intelligent.
"Those are Violet Spirit Foxes." When she saw the Violet Spirit Foxes, a look of happiness appeared on Xiao Ling’Er’s face. She got off the Violet Wood Bed and hugged a Violet Fox with one arm as she said, "Big bro, are you really giving me this Violet Fox?"
Xiao Yun smiled as he said, "Of course. Would big bro lie to you?" Xiao Yun also felt quite joyful when he saw how happy his little sister looked.
"Big bro, you’re the best." Xiao Ling’Er hugged the Violet Spirit Fox as she turned and stood on the tip of her toes and kissed the youth’s face, a look of bliss on her cute and beautiful face.
"This girl." Xiao Yun couldn’t help but laugh when he felt the wetness on his face.
As Xiao Ling’Er hugged the little fox, she suddenly realised there was another one. As such, she turned and looked at Xiao Yun in curiosity as she said, "Big bro, there’s still another Violet Fox."
"That one’s for little sister s.h.i.+ Yan," Xiao Yun smiled as he replied.
"Oh." Xiao Ling’Er seemed a bit dispirited, as well as a bit jealous.
"What’s wrong?" When he saw his little sister didn’t look too happy, Xiao Yun smiled as he spoke, "Little sister s.h.i.+ Yan’s a good person, and has helped us much over the past few years. Big brother thought he’d bring her back a present after going out, but if you like it, you can have both."
To Xiao Yun, his little sister’s happiness was of paramount importance.
Xiao Ling’Er blinked as she smiled and replied, "Ling’Er’s happy with just one."
"Ling’Er’s such a good girl." Xiao Yun also smiled as he stroked her hair, marvelling inwardly. Since she was young, this girl had been well behaved and cute, which made anyone want to protect her forever.
"Miss Ling’Er, this Violet Fox isn’t shy at all; it actually ran onto my head," Huan"Er said as she giggled.
"Same with my one." Xiao Ling’Er laughed, her eyes looking pure and innocent. The 2 girls continuously laughed as they played with the foxes, looking incredibly happy.
"With that Violet Fox, lil sis won’t be so lonely anymore." Xiao Yun smiled as he walked towards his bedroom and began to neutralise the Chilling Qi in his body. Even a bit of the remnant of the Chilling Qi was enough to make him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Luckily, Xiao Yun had fused with a Fire Martial Spirit, and with a slight thought, a burst of warmth flowed through his body and dispelled the Chilling Qi.
However, Xiao Yun did not get rid of all of the Chilling Qi, because he found that with enough Chilling Qi, his Martial Spirit would develop. Just like what had happened with Fire Essence Qi, perhaps if he had enough Chilling Qi, he would be able to create some cold-type spirit dew.
Although he didn’t know what he could use the dew for, he had seen the jade-green dew recover quite a bit of Essence Qi for Ling Xi. The dew should be extremely precious, and might be even more valuable than medicinal pills.
The remnants of the Chilling Qi were quickly absorbed by Xiao Yun’s Martial Spirit, but the sub-branch did not grow leaves. Evidently, this amount of Chilling Qi was not enough to allow it to create leaves. If he wanted to develop this sub-branch, he would have to continuously absorb Chilling Qi.
Just as Xiao Yun finished completely absorbing the Chilling Qi, he heard Xiao Ling’Er’s voice call out, "Grandpa."
"Grandpa’s here?" Xiao Yun was quite surprised.
"Ling’Er, is your big brother back?" The Xiao family’s old patriarch’s voice could be heard from the courtyard.
Xiao Ling’Er replied, "Mm. Big brother’s in his room. Do you want Ling’Er to go and call him?"
"It’s fine, you keep playing. Grandpa will go himself." The Xiao family’s old patriarch looked at his well-behaved and cute granddaughter with a twinge of sadness. After all, he knew about her const.i.tution, but could do nothing about it.
"Luckily we have Yun’Er. Otherwise, the girl wouldn’t have been able to survive until now." After sighing, the old patriarch walked towards Xiao Yun’s room.
As the Xiao family’s old patriarch walked over, Xiao Yun opened the door and went to greet him.
"Grandpa." Xiao Yun grinned.
Although his grandpa had been in closed-door training for the past 2 years, Xiao Yun knew that his grandpa deeply cared about him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have come out when the Fang family came to look for trouble to protect him.
"You’ve stepped into the Innate realm?" Looking at the youth, the old patriarch’s eyes lit up in excitement. Although he had his guesses, after sending out his senses and confirming it, he felt a strange sense of joy.
"Mm." Xiao Yun nodded, his eyes resolute as he replied, "Grandpa, your grandson will definitely become stronger than that Fang Hao."
He knew that his grandpa had been quite worried about this. That was why Xiao Yun had entered the depths of the Violet Cloud Mountain by himself.
"But of course; how could the Fang family’s little b.a.s.t.a.r.d compare to my grandson?" The Xiao family’s old patriarch smiled as he gave a hearty laugh and said, "Haha, my grandson’s finally regained his talent from back then. I’ll see who dares to say that our Xiao family has no hope!"
