Ascenders: Rising From Zero

Chapter 26

Overtime, immense study and a.n.a.lysis has shown that these beasts often appear at instances that are of great imbalance to Fate. Once these beasts appear, they move on to destroy whatever was disturbing fate and then are gone from sight, only destroying other beings when they act in self defense.

This very behavior has led many to believe that this is Eledumare's way of balancing reality.

These beasts would not attack unless they have a fate disturbing ent.i.ty. Also, they are rare and hardly seen. Indeed, we do not even know how they are born or where. The only thing close is that a beast can evolve to Rare Type especially when possessing three or more innate abilities.

However, these Rare Type beasts have being appearing in numbers and wrecking havoc as opposed to their normal behavior. And whether we choose to believe it or not, this can only mean that something great in fate is about to happen.

The Creations are restless, the G.o.ds do not reply us no more but we must not wait till this Oncoming Fate Occurrence meets us halfway. All of us must Act!.

The paws of the Latent Stealth Dog pattered along the ground, rippling through carpet gra.s.s and rocky surface.

After his decision to find how powerful the people he had dealing with earlier with, he had set out in full speed, hoping to gain on them.

However, his energy was rather low and thus to avoid soul decline, he had to get something to eat.

Something on the way.

Just then, he skidded to a halt, jerking all legs together. He was besides the resource pool he had once made as home. Looking into the pool with nostalgia, Bayo sighed mentally, remembering the quick delicacies and energies it had gotten from the pool readily.

But now, it was all empty, a shadow of its former self.

A ripple washed across the surface of the tail pond at the opposite end. Bayo's ears jerked up as he sniffed closer at the water, peeking at the ripple source.

Another ripple washed again followed by a splash and the faint glimpse of a black bluey streamlined body.

Was that a fish?

'Yasmin, scan.'

But Bayo was far gone already. Without paying heed to the soul Status prompt within his soul, he dived in, his paws arching for a catch.

SSSSHHNNK...

'Aargh... right. So it's current you use now, eh' Bayo yelped.

Angrily, he swirled his body, presenting his business b.u.t.t and SLAM!

His tail homed in on the fish, impaling it into the murky, pool ground. Promptly, he dived in and snipped the fish into his jaws, munching hurriedly but with ecstasy.

He now glossed over the soul prompt in his mind, looking at the low energy of the fish. But what did that matter?

His unique soul would somehow give me double or at least half and quarter of the fish original energy.

'Yasmin, my soul Status.' He commanded.

Bingo!

He had gotten a whooping 10 points of energy from that fish.

'Oh, my soul. You're the best.' Bayo applauded, turning his focus back on the road.

'Yasmin, evolve me into the Fire Breathing Salamander. That way I'll attract less attention when I'm following those people.'

'Impossible, you would require more than your available energy to

'Ah, you are so helpful, Yasmin. Just shut up instead of using grammar to tell me I can't.' Bayo raved, running towards the part the team took.

.

Meanwhile, the CFR agents ran onwards, chasing after a certain hurrying movement in the gra.s.ses. From their position, it was hard to make out just what it was but whatever it was, it didn't want to be seen.

However, they were not the least disturbed. The CFR had being founded some time after the evolution of dragons and grakons who were hunted by their non-sentient dragon predecessors.

Inother to sustain their existence, a task force had been formed. To the outside world, it was known as the Center For Forest Reserve, CFR which was aimed at building forest monopoly as well as forest beast life protection from poachers but deep within, the Center had been carrying out its original function.

Which was to either destroy the dragons that threatened their existence from the start for being a different specie from them or to tame and subdue the dragons into subservience.

And over the centuries, the Center had grown spreading into the conquered realms of the drakonian Confederacy with their main quarters at Drago City.

They had faced several dragons before. Several beasts also. And just because of one evasive creature, that didn't mean they were going to just give up just like it.

"Aeneas!" Ronke called, her feet gliding gracefully over stones and around trees.

"Yes?"

"I need you to give us aerial vision. Need to know what we looking at." Ronke said as they burst out into the open plains and back again into the thicker forest outlining the plain. For some reasons, the creature they were chasing was avoiding open light.

Aeneas grunted, his face contorting lightly to form a snout. Blue black wings burst out of his leather armor from the back and with a flap, he lifted off the ground.

"Aerial support, incoming." Aeneas chanted as his face reverted back to his humanoid form, zooming forward.

SLAM!

KRASHHHHH!!!

Draconic wings cl.u.s.tered together as the form they lifted fell slowly, clutching onto the boulder of a tree trunk that he had slammed into.

"Are you okay, BOY?" Denre called from the front. Himself and Ronke had already given the poor drakon some distance within that short time.

"Fine, I'll come after you. Stupid Tree." Aeneas cursed, earning some screeches from a nearby frightened Black eyed Tirian whose home was disturbed by my the drakon.

The drakon hardly spared the bird any glance as it picked itself up, flying left and right, dodging the thick Boughed trees.

Just then, a large furry necked, muscular dog leapt up, throwing a first claw at the bird that missed and then the second.

The second claw rammed into the Tirian, knocking it off its branch down to the ground. As it landed, the dog leapt on it, devouring it in one gobble.

'Black eyed Tirian is so delicious. Yasmin, keep that on my meal checklist.' Bayo muttered, crunching on the midway snack as he raced forward. His only lead now was the drakon that kept flying zigzag forward.

Ronke and Denre raced on, trying to pinpoint what exactly was evading them. Just a shadow drifted across their vision as a dark body leapt over the cliff, downwards.

Startled, the duo stopped their chase forcefully, exchanging confused glances.

"Hey guys." Aeneas called out as his wings glided him just a little beyond his teammates. "Whoa..." He flailed his hands, as his body leaned over to the edge of the cliff. Denre's hand found his hand, pulling the startled drakon back.

"Where's the creature?" Aeneas asked, one eyebrow up.

"Went over the cliff." Ronke pointed at the cliff dismissively.

"Oh G.o.d of sudden death... do we abandon the chase?" He asked again.

Denre grunted. "No. WE HAVE COME TO..."

"Talk easy, you lousy grakon." Aeneas winced, poking the grakon at his chest.

"We need to get down there. Allow me, I'll summon My Ragore Dragon." Denre clasped his hands together, nodding at Ronke.

The latter kept quiet for a while before walking up front. Standing at the very edge, she gazed down at the bottom where a pool of water had gathered with a disappearing trail of water disturbance.

"There's no time for that summoning now. I'll handle it here." Ronke said.

Taking a few step backwards, the familiar heaved, before slamming her hands togetheher.

In a flash, her left foot had plummeted into the rocky ground with her hands flung back and her body pushed forward. Simultaneously, a rocky projection of rough jagged rocks spirited from the ground, erupting with debris of dirt around. As soon as it happened, Ronke frowned slightly, flipping her hands into an arc as the rock extended, creaking and bending down the cliff.

Ronke frowned even deeper now, as she weaved her hands together. Immediately, the air became cold, drops of water appearing from nowhere and falling down on the rock. As soon as the drops made contact, the water solidified, turning into a thin layer of ice over the rock bridge.

"Seriously? Why didn't you just do your air thing and get us down?" Denre asked, perplexed as he examined the the curving earth that connected onto the ground below.

"There's no time." Ronke mumbled, jumping onto the ice coated curved rock bridge. She began sliding down, her body bent slightly as she disappeared from the cliff edge.

"See you later, Denre." Aeneas said, twisting, flying downward at break neck speed.

At that, Denre leapt up, his orange robe fluttering about he landed heavily, slipping downwards.

Seconds later, the Latent Stealth Dog That has been stalking came into the open. Blinking, it raked a claw on the ice.

'Guess it all comes down to a slide of faith, eh?"
